VP Debate: Sarah Palin's Shoes

Look at these photos of Sarah Palin.

I haven't altered them in any way, no cropping. They are directly off the photo wire.

Both photos were taken by Carlos Barria for Reuters. Reuters is known for cheap shots.

But what's with Carlos? Shoe fetish?

If he took photos of Joe Biden's shoes and legs, the photos aren't on the wire.

Where are the pics of Joe's shoes?

Sexist?

I think so.

______________

UPDATE, October 2, 2008, 10:28 pm CT: Still no photos of Biden's shoes.
______________

UPDATE, October 3, 2008, 12:50 am CT: No photos of Biden's shoes. Sarah Palin's shoes and legs appear FOUR MORE TIMES on the photo wire.

Apparently, pool photographer Don Emmert has the same interests as Carlos Barria.

Creeps.

Lol...I actually like the shot.

I don't think it's a shoe fetish with photographers. And even if none were taken of Biden's shoes, I've got in my files, McCain's shoes and Obama's shoes.

It's one of those things that captures perspective and a bit of an artsy statement.

What I see is a reminder that this is a "pit bull with lipstick"...and high heels. That she is a woman who has taken the baton from Hillary and is running with it.

what you don't see is how many times she clicked her ruby heels together and wished "there's no place like home"... gosh darnit.

It's one more reason to admire this woman. There's no way I could survive in heels like that!

Have do you realize that the Palin's shoes are one seize bigger (more or less)?

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to find a good picture of her shoes all night. Those puppies are HOT.

WS,

I have one shot of McCain's and Palin's shoes that's really weird.

I didn't think I had ANY pics of Dems' shoes, but I did find one -- Obama's bowling shoes. I cropped and resized it. The photo originally wasn't just a shoe shot.

I agree that the photos of Palin's heels can be interpreted as making a statement.

Like everything, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Behold, the power of heels!

It's sexist and I'm sick of it.

The photos of the shoes aside, Sarah Palin has been treated with such disrespect.

She's an intelligent, accomplished woman, the governor of a state.

Obama, Biden, and their supporters should be ashamed for debasing her the way they have. They've attempted to marginalize her as a ditz, nothing more than a pretty face. It's unconscionable.

And the "feminists" remain silent or take part in the assault on Pain.

It bugs me. A lot.

I for one found her debate performance insulting. At a time when this country is struggling in two wars, and in deep economic stress at home, someone with little or no qualifications shows up to the job interveiw for President (that's the veep job...be ready to step up if needed)
wearing a tight skirt and high stiletto heels, answers none of the questions, but winks at me a lot, and says "You bet'cha!"
Good Lord, how ridiculous are we going to become??

Well, they ARE interesting. I doubt that any other candidate has worn such interesting shoes to a national debate.

Mary said...

I think it's condescending for people to mock Sarah Palin's accent and speech patterns.

That's what's insulting.

Personally, being from the Upper Midwest, I'm sick of this "Fargo" crap, as if that way of speaking is indicative of low intelligence. It's not.

Furthermore, women wear dresses and they wear heels. Palin is a woman. Her attire was not inappropriate for the debate.

Had Biden chosen to don a dress and heels THAT would have been ridiculous.

Please do not lecture me on what women wear.
I do not go to my office in "sexy chic" and stilettos. I do not wink at people. When I address the Board of Directors I have speak in clear, declarative sentences and have my facts and figures straight.
I could not be stumped by the likes of Katie Couric with simple questions covered on Middle School tests. I have no choice but to side with my fellow sober-minded conservatives who realize this is embarrassing. It has turned what should have been a positive for us into yet another setback. Once again the hottie flirt jumps the line. UGH!

Mary said...

"Lecture"?

Get a grip.

Stating the obvious is hardly a lecture.

I think Sarah Palin did a fantastic job.

If you don't like her way of speaking and her style, then you don't. OK.

I admire her for all that she's accomplished. She's bright and a skillful politician. She has strong conservative principles. She's tough. She had Biden so rattled that he had to lie through his teeth.

Talk about an embarrassment!

I have no choice but to side with my fellow sober-minded conservatives...

Yes, you're a conservative. Riiiiiight.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I'm not a true consersevative because I refuse to check my common sense and dignity at the door and shill for a thoroughly inappropriate pick?
Sorry dear, there ARE some adults left in the party...

Mary said...

There's no question that there are disagreements among conservatives.

Some like Palin. Some don't. Some like McCain. Some don't.

I just didn't buy your comment. Too bitter. Too contrived.

Anonymous said...

Contrived? No. Bitter? You bet'cha! To at my age see the GOP turned into a sideshow...
But I'm done, because I see you've retreated to the final defalt position of the indefensible, attacking the messenger. Goodbye.

Mary said...

My dear "anonymous"--

Don't play the "attacking the messenger" card on me after your snide comments.

Surrender, retreat and defeat -- Telltale signs you're not really a conservative.

My Sarah Palin fantasy...Sarah Palin 'takes off the gloves' and literally 'puts on the heels'. She has me tied down, spread eagle and then proceeds to step on my balls and grind them under her feet while wearing her high heels, all the while leacturing me about the immorality of abortion and that since I'm an abortion rights supporter maybe she should just 'abort' my sperm and any chance of impregnating a girl by crushing my nuts.

Check this out, Mary.
