The Atlantic magazine on Thursday terminated its relationship with Kevin D. Williamson, the conservative writer whose hiring last month angered liberals and sparked an online debate about what views are considered acceptable in mainstream publications..
It was Mr. Williamson’s hard-line stance on abortion — namely, that it should be treated as premeditated homicide and punished accordingly, perhaps by hanging — that generated the initial controversy over his hiring.
It was that same viewpoint that led to his abrupt departure
Some find his firing to be troubling.
Kevin Williamson's firing is a reminder that there are two Americas and one side will stop at nothing to silence the other. This is not about a bad tweet or a bad view. It is about the left wanting a monopoly on the public square so none can be exposed to competing ideas.

I've publicly argued with Kevin Williamson (who's a friend) over harsh things he's written, but he is one of the bravest and most talented writers I know. The Atlantic's cutting him loose under left-wing fire is deplorable. But clarifying. Definitely clarifying.

Others are cheering the canning of Williamson.
These people deploring Kevin Williamson's firing pretend to care about free speech or tolerance of varying viewpoints. They don't. What they want his for his extreme view to become part of the conversation, so that the compromise, the CENTER, becomes "Abortion should be illegal."

BREAKING: Kevin Williamson, who called for women who’ve had an abortion to be hanged, was just π³πΆπΏπ²π± from @TheAtlantic in the face of mounting pressure from pro-choice activists, NARAL, @UltraViolet & the media. #FireKevin pic.twitter.com/29rSZvt3Z2

Never underestimate the Left's love of killing babies and silencing opposing views.
