A records clerk in Ohio has been charged with gross misconduct after unlawfully using a state database to access information on the man famously known as "Joe the Plumber," according to several local press accounts.
Julie McConnell, a long-time records clerk with the Toledo police department investigative services bureau, reportedly used the database -- called the Law Enforcement Automated Data System or LEADS -- to access information on Joe Wurzelbacher.
...McConnell allegedly used the LEADS database to confirm Wurzelbacher's address at the request of a local television reporter, according to a report published in the Toledo Blade.
"You can't use that database unless it was for law enforcement purposes," Toledo police Chief Navarre told the newspaper.
"If a crime was committed and she was looking up the address or the name of a victim or witness, that would be OK," Navarre said.
An internal investigation into McConnell's activity was launched when the Toledo police received a phone call from the Ohio Highway Patrol, questioning why information on Wurzelbacher was accessed, the Blade reported.
Score one for Joe the Plumber.

I think it would only be fair if Julie the record clerk's personal information was opened to the public just like she did to Joe the Plumber. I heard she donated $2300 to the Obama campaign. That's quite a bit for a record clerk don't ya think?
