Jay Leno: Eliot Spitzer a Republican

This is Jay Leno's final week as host of the Tonight Show.

The writers are getting a little sloppy.

From Monday night's monologue:

JAY LENO: A lot of fun stuff happening with the Republicans... John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, has declared that she is a pro-sex Republican. That's what she said, pro-sex Republican.

Don't confuse that with other Republicans, like Sen. Vitter and Eliot Spitzer. They like to get their sex from a pro. That's totally different.

That punch line doesn't work. Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former governor of New York, is a DEMOCRAT.

Apparently, none of the writers or Leno know that. If they want to slam Republicans, they should at least get their facts straight.
