Here's video of the performance by Cirque du Soleil at the Oscars:
It certainly was a spectacular performance, but I don't know why it was part of the telecast.
It was out of place, like when David Letterman hosted the Awards and did "Stupid Pet Tricks."
Letterman really was an awful host.
