AOC Terrified of Garbage Disposal

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not the brightest bulb.

Residential garbage disposals were illegal in New York City until 1997.

Apparently, many New York residents have never seen one in a kitchen sink.
Have you ever seen a garbage disposal? In my mind, they are a suburban contraption (indeed, they were invented in Wisconsin in 1927) that I only ever saw in the kitchens of my wealthier friends growing up. I have since associated them with having money, and as such they've always seemed an invention for the privileged; an abyss that will easily and conveniently make your waste vanish—simply disappear any unsightly things in life (your maid's pilfering fingers, your philandering husband's golf clubs) with your magic sink! Like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, many New Yorkers have never encountered one.
Yay, Wisconsin!

This garbage disposal discussion is nuts.

Supporters of Ocasio-Cortez are defending her stupidity by citing New York laws. That's ridiculous.

We did not have a garbage disposal growing up. Most of my life has been spent living in homes without garbage disposals. I had no personal experience with one, but I knew what it was and it certainly didn't terrify me.

If Ocasio-Cortez is trying to be a ditz, she's incredibly successful at it.
