It goes without saying that anything happening on Bill Maher's HBO show, Real Time, takes a while to get around for the simple reason that NO ONE watches. Finally today, the full reverb of Maher's March 4th interview with Ward Churchill was echoing across the country.
A few points:
First, the meter expired on Churchill's fifteen minutes of fame at least a couple of weeks ago. Time for a tow. He is a fraud. Enough of his bloviations.
Second, Maher appeared to use the Churchill booking as an opportunity to draw attention to himself. When Churchill wasn't offering up enough controversial sound bites, Maher chose to provide his own insipid filler.
Third, Maher spouted his anti-American drivel with the aplomb of one who has completed an apprenticeship with the master of "Hate America" rhetoric, Michael Moore. (Look for Moore to be blathering into the headlines soon. He can't bear to have the loony left spotlight on anyone but himself.)
Fourth, Maher's suggestion that whatever they choose to build on the WTC site, there should be a "Why They Hate Us Pavilion," was so crass and insensitive that it makes me wonder why anyone would spend precious time listening to the guy.
Fifth, Churchill and Maher have the right to be heard and others, hopefully, have the good sense to exercise their right not to listen.
Right here. This is where Bill wants to erect his pavilion to anti-Americanism, at Ground Zero.
Would it also be a good idea to build an anti-Semitic pavilion outside the gates of Auschwitz, Bill?

I used to like Bill. I understood what he was saying when he got in trouble on ABC. Too too far this time Bill...
Or how about we erect a statue commemorating slavery at every plantation in the south??? (sense extreme sarcasm...)
I say let Bill Maher and Ward Churchill keep spouting the "Hate America" rhetoric (I'll throw Michael Moore in there as well) for three reasons. Number one, it shows that we are better than they are and can tolerate their little hissy fits. Number two, nobody can say we are infringing on free speech. But lastly and more importantly, the more people who hear this seething vitriol, the more who will be turned off by the Left.
You're right, Scott. Conservatives gain support every time someone like Maher spouts off.
