Press Conference:
--ATF traced the firearm from the scene to Terry Ratzmann. He purchased it on June 8, 2004. Another firearm, a shotgun, was found at his home. He purchased it on July 3, 1982.
--No clear motive for the shootings has been determined; but the investigation is narrowing.
--There is no indication that Ratzmann's employment status was a clear or direct motive. He was employed with Adecco and contracted to GE Healthcare in Waukesha. His contract began in June and was scheduled to end on March 25, 2005.
--Capt. Phil Horter said, "We believe the motive has something to do with the church and the church services."
--Members of the church have been cooperative when questioned.
--There are thousands of computer hits to examine from the four computers the police department removed from Ratzmann's home and workplace. Seventy files are encrypted. Authorities are having no problem retrieving any of the files. The large volume of the files is delaying the investigation.
--At this time, there is speculation that there were both targeted and random victims. The pastor's family may have been targeted. Most likely, others were killed or wounded because of their location in the room at the time of the shooting.
--There is no hard evidence that Ratzmann was depressed.
--Regarding the motive, Waukesha County D.A. Paul Bucher said, "You're looking for logic in an illogical act, and we're not able to do that."
--A motive has not been determined. There is no additional information to relay, according to Bucher.
