John Kerry Charges Voter Intimidation

John Kerry, speaking at an event Sunday sponsored by the League of Women Voters, used that old Democratic mantra of the last four years--"Count every vote."

Kerry said, "Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated."

"There is no magic wand. No one person is going to stand up and suddenly say it's going to change tomorrow. You have to do that," he said.

Then, Kerry stepped further into the Twilight Zone.

"Leaflets are handed out saying Democrats vote on Wednesday, Republicans vote on Tuesday. People are told in telephone calls that if you've ever had a parking ticket, you're not allowed to vote," he said.

It appears that Kerry is taking a cue from "independent" Senator Jim Jeffords in going out on a loony limb.

From AP: Kerry supporters have charged that voting irregularities in largely Democratic areas made it difficult for voters to cast ballots in the November election. A lawsuit in Ohio cited long lines and a shortage of voting machines in predominantly minority neighborhoods, but the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed the suit.

If Kerry wishes to be considered as a candidate for 2008, he can't go around making such ridiculous accusations.

If these leaflets did exist, why hasn't one surfaced? Wouldn't that have been plastered on the front page of every liberal rag in the country?

If such absurd phone calls were made, wouldn't a recording of one have been made and used to hurt the Bush campaign?

The answer to both questions is: ABSOLUTELY!

I believe Kerry relied on unsubstantiated reports in his remarks, a terribly irresponsible move.

A bigger problem for the Democratic Party:

If we are to believe that these tactics were used to intimidate and trick voters, how stupid and gullible were Kerry supporters to fall for them?

VERY.

Isn't it amazing that Kerry has such a low opinion of his supporters?

Intimidated by flyers saying Democrats vote on Wednesday??? If they are that stupid then they don't deserve the right to vote

Remember during one of the debates when Kerry said he could tell no one in the audience was financially well off?

He's so condescending. Doesn't he realize he's insulting the intelligence of Dem voters to even suggest any of them would believe they should go to the polls on the day after the election?
