Three's No Charm for NBC

The Tonight Show just ended a few minutes ago. Ann Coulter was a guest. Leno obviously has decent security. She wasn't heckled and no pies were thrown her way.

The musical quest was Theory of a Dead Man.

Which song did they perform?

One riddled with crude language, naturally.

I admit I wasn't really listening until certain lines of the song caught my attention. I don't know if NBC muted the particularly objectionable words or if Tyler Connolly altered the lyrics. I do know Tyler kept howling about the bitch that was leaving him.

Since the show is not a live broadcast, only words NBC wanted on the air made it. This was not a repeat of System of a Down dropping the f-bomb on SNL last Saturday; but it wasn't what I expect from the usually mainstream fare found on the Tonight Show.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the song at all. However, I do question the appropriateness of performing it on broadcast TV. NBC certainly is exhibiting a new pattern of leniency lately.

"No Suprise"

Friday is when you left me
So I'll drink myself to sleep
And Sunday is when I'll wake up
Not to remember a thing

My friends all say the same thing
I don't know my new girl too well
(I know)
That all this lying gets to me
And no one seems to give a sh-t
(The way)
She talks to every guy in the bar
(I guess)
It should've raised some kind of alarm
Who'd ever think I'd go and end up?
Like all the other guys that you've gone and f---ed

Well it ain't no surprise
That you turn me on and leave
It ain't no surprise
That you turn it around on me
I don't know why
You won't give me what I need
It ain't no surprise
That that bitch is leavin' me

My friends are mean to me
They say I don't break up too well
(They know)
All this crying gets to me
And no one seems to give a sh-t
Well I know you want to
So go on and say it
Just go on and say it
Just go on and say it

Well it ain't no surprise
That you turn me on and leave
It ain't no surprise
That you turn it around on me
I don't know why
You won't give me what I need
It ain't no surprise
That that bitch is leavin' me
(Leavin' me)

Friday is when you left me
So I drank myself to sleep
And Sunday I never woke up

Well it ain't no surprise
That you turn me on and leave
It ain't no surprise
That you turn it around on me
I don't know why
You won't give me what I need
It ain't no surprise
That that bitch is leavin' me
That that bitch is leavin' me
