UP OR DOWN

PRESIDENT BUSH'S JUDICIAL NOMINEES DESERVE A VOTE!

Today marks 4 years or 1,460 days since President George W. Bush first nominated Priscilla Owen to serve as a federal judge on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which has been designated a "judicial emergency." The majority of Senators support Judge Owen, but Democrats are refusing to give her a fair up-or-down vote on the Senate floor. Click here to sign the petition telling Democrats to give Judge Owen an up-or-down vote.

Democrats, led by Minority Leader Harry Reid, are even threatening to shut down the Senate if Judge Owen is given the fair up-or-down vote she deserves.
Judge Owen unanimously received the American Bar Association's highest possible rating, "well qualified." She has served on the Texas Supreme Court since 1994 and was endorsed for reelection by every major newspaper in the state.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has offered Senator Reid a compromise that would give Democrats 100 hours to debate each judge and then guarantee each judge a floor vote, but he continues to reject this common-sense offer.

We need you to act today by signing the RNC's petition calling on all members of the U.S. Senate to support Senator Frist's judicial compromise and guarantee President Bush's nominees a fair up or down vote. Click here to sign the petition! Click here to send the petition to your friends.

The four years Judge Owen has waited for a fair up-or-down vote is too long. It is time for the Democrats to compromise and stop obstructing highly qualified judicial nominees supported by a majority of senators. I'm counting on your help to prevent the Democrats from keeping Priscilla Owen off the 5th Circuit for another year.

Sincerely,
Ken Mehlman

Chairman, RNC

P.S. Please take action today to stop Democrat obstructionism and help ensure President Bush's highly qualified nominees receive an up or down vote.
