You know it's coming.
They'll wait a few days because it would be too unseemly for them to say today, while emotions are running high, that failed Bush administration policies are responsible for the bombings in London.
They don't want to be accused of politicizing the tragedy. Only Biden takes some political shots in his remarks.
John Kerry: "While these attacks remind us that the fight is far from over, they also strengthen our resolve to stand together for the right of free people to live in a peaceful world."
Dianne Feinstein: "My heart goes out to the British people. They are a wonderful, strong people, and I know that all Americans stand with them on this tragic day. This senator offers her help in any way possible."
Nancy "The war is over" Pelosi: "The actions of cowards against innocent people will not prevail; our resolve to fight terrorism around the world will not be deterred. We join President Bush, Prime Minister Blair, and all the leaders of the G-8 Summit in fighting terrorism."
Joe "I want to be president" Biden: "My heart goes out to the families of those killed and wounded in Great Britain. Our closest ally has been wounded and that wounds us all. But make no mistake, we will prevail against these terrorists -- it will take time and total cooperation among our allies and other nation states who face similar threats. But we will prevail.
"Following the deadly train bombings in Madrid, this is now the second major attack on passenger rail in as many years. We need to ask ourselves: are we doing everything we can to protect our own vulnerabilities here in the U.S.? Unfortunately the answer is no. For the past two years, several of us in Congress have proposed specific steps that we can and should take to protect commuters and our rails system. It is long past time to act."
Russ Feingold: My deepest sympathies go out to all of those affected by this morning's terrorist attacks in London. I remember being deeply moved by expressions of support and solidarity from British people on September 11, 2001, and I know that my constituents and all Americans want to extend our heartfelt support to them at this difficult time. Today's horrible attacks only strengthen our resolve to continue working with our British allies and with allies around the world to defeat the terrorist networks that traffic in fear and brutality.
Harry Reid: "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the people of Great Britain, and especially to those in London who endured these depraved acts of terrorism today. These attacks were cruel and senseless acts, committed by cowards who see nothing wrong with targeting innocent civilians.
"I am confident that all Americans are committed to ensuring that this nation does everything it can to help bring justice to those responsible. We also stand in complete solidarity with Prime Minister Blair and President Bush, and all the leaders of the G-8 Summit, who pledged their commitment and resolve to fight and defeat this kind of extremism and hatred wherever it exists in the world."
For the most part, they're all making the same type of statements. Without question, I believe they are sincere in their condolences to the people of London. Nevertheless, all their talk of unity is empty. All their talk about working together to fight terrorim is hollow.
They can't pretend that they haven't sought to undermine the Bush administration, and vowed to wage war against it.
Their behavior, calling President Bush a liar, a loser, a failure, a disaster, and out of touch with reality, does not present a united front.
The terrorists know that the Dems are doing their best to destroy Bush. That's why outlets like Al Jazeera highlight comments from the likes of Dick Durbin. They feed off of the Dems' criticism and use it against us in the War on Terror.
It's only a matter of time before the Dems start pointing fingers at Bush for the London attacks.
In short, the Dems' comments today about standing in solidarity are VERY temporary. Their words are worthless.
