Since September, I have been involved in a legal matter with an entertainment media conglomerate.
It regards the violation of my privacy.
As a result of the violation, I received this threat:
"Why Mary [middle initial and last name withheld], how interesting that you have a blog here...hmm..., whose address, phone number and employment history all came up in a public records search!
"Keep messing with me (I know you're using the name 'Sagace' or whatever) on that site, and I'll be sure to spam this one from time to time. And more - I'll start calling your relatives and telling them you're dead, or whatever else I think up (Yes, the public records list your closest relatives...)"
At this point, it appears that an out of court settlement is unlikely. I will not give specifics about the case until it becomes clear that I am in fact going public with the matter by filing lawsuits, as well as complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice.
I'm not setting up a Bill Clinton-style legal defense fund, but I do have a request. If the conglomerate's legal counsel makes settlement unacceptable, and that seems to be the situation, I am asking for your help.
I need your voices.
I need you to help me spread the message of the injustice that's been done by this conglomerate. I am not the first to incur damages. It is becoming increasingly clear that this media giant does not take privacy seriously.
I need you to reinforce the importance of upholding Internet privacy policies by demanding that this conglomerate stop infringing on the rights of the public.
Although in this case I was victimized, privacy is an important issue to all of us.
I hope that I can count on your support as I move forward. There is strength in numbers. One voice is easy for an entertainment media giant to ignore. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of voices can't be as easily dismissed.
Thanks,
Mary

Thanks, Mark.
This has been an absolute nightmare.
I really appreciate the support that you and Game are offering.
Any Internet user should be concerned about privacy issues.
God help us if the UN takes control of regulating it.
