DHS Predator Busted

On the heels of all the TEACHERS GONE WILD, sexually preying on their underage students, we have a Department of Homeland Security employee engaged in online sexual activities with a child. In this case, no child was actually abused. It was a sting operation.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that some may attempt to make political hay out of this incident, and try to connect the Bush Administration with the crime.

LAKELAND -- A deputy press secretary with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was arrested Tuesday night and charged with trying to "seduce" a 14-year-old Polk County girl with graphic talk over the Internet.

The "girl" with whom Brian J. Doyle, 55, was corresponding was actually an undercover Polk County Sheriff's detective, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Doyle was arrested at his Silver Spring, Md., home at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday on a total of 23 Polk County charges of using his computer to seduce a child and transmitting harmful materials to a minor, according to a Sheriff's Office release.

Doyle was chatting with the fictional girl online when police officers and secret service agents knocked on his door to arrest him, said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd during a late Tuesday night news conference.

They seized his home computer and other materials, Judd said.

Undercover detectives knew Doyle would be home Tuesday night because the "girl" promised she would send nude photos of herself through a Web cam, Judd said.

...Detectives interviewed Doyle Tuesday night, and he acknowledged soliciting the teenager, Judd said.

How creepy!

The detectives confiscated his computer and had his communications. Doyle knew that there would be no way to weasel out of admitting to his crime.

...Initially, detectives thought Doyle was posing as someone working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. But they soon learned otherwise when he sent a picture to the girl over the Internet wearing an official "DHS tag", Judd said.

The detectives probably thought no one working for the DHS would be so reckless. It's understandable that they believed Doyle was pretending to be with the DHS.

Obviously, Doyle doesn't think clearly, but it was unbelievably stupid of him to reveal his identity like that.

AP reports that during online conversations, he "revealed his name, that he worked for the Homeland Security Department, and offered his office and government issued cell phone numbers."

If he was going to engage in this sort of illegal behavior, how could Doyle possibly think that he could give out all that information and think that he could get away with it?

This really is disgusting.

It amazes me when seemingly
intelligent people make such shockingly bad choices.

Judd said DHS and State Attorney Jerry Hill's Office contributed to the investigation.

..."We will go after child predators, no matter where they live, to protect our innocent children," Judd said in a released statement. "This investigation shows that the long arm of the law can reach anyone, anywhere, anytime, who tries to harm our youth."

I think it's important to highlight that the DHS aided in the investigation. To be clear, for the Lefty nuts, there was no cover-up by the government, no attempt to protect Doyle. Any Culture of Corruption stuff here is bogus.

Now that Doyle has admitted that he's a sexual predator, the question becomes:

Will he try the Debra Lafave bipolar defense?

If he does, I don't think a jury would buy it, nor do I think a jury should.

Thankfully, Doyle was busted. That's one more child predator out of circulation.

It would be unfortunate if politicians and pundits use Doyle's personal disgrace to bring shame to the decent, committed, law-abiding workers with the DHS.

We know that Ruth Bader-Ginsburg supports lowering the age of consent.
