It appears that those secret prison camps that the U.S. was running in Eastern Europe are shrouded in such extreme secrecy that NO evidence has been found to prove their existence.
ZERO.
From Investor's Business Daily:
Reports of secret CIA prisons in Europe where the Bush and Blair governments tortured suspected terrorists caused quite an uproar. But what if those prisons never existed?
Would The Washington Post and reporter Dana Priest return the Pulitzer Prize that was awarded just last week for the Post's coverage of those prisons? Not likely. They'd be far more likely to employ the Dan Rather/CBS fake-but-accurate defense.
As far as I can tell, Rather hasn't lost any of his luster among the lib elite. He still is cited by them as a man of integrity and one of the greatest journalists in American history.
That "fake-but-accurate" stuff goes over pretty well with the libs, except with Oprah. (Don't mess with her book club.)
While Priest and the Post bask in the sheen of a just-minted Pulitzer, the European Union's anti-terror chief said Thursday that even after more than 50 hours of testimony he has been unable to confirm a that single secret "rendition" prison exists in Europe.
It's noteworthy that it wasn't 50-plus hours of testimony from Bush- and Blair-friendly witnesses. It was from rights advocates and the very people who claim they had been kidnapped by CIA agents.
"We've heard all kinds of allegations," Gijs de Vries said in a European Parliament committee hearing. "It does not appear to be proven beyond reasonable doubt."
De Vries' admission comes about three months after the Council of Europe, an intergovernmental European human rights and political reform agency, said its own probe could not establish the prisons' existence.
The hysterics coming from the Left on all sorts of issues are to be expected.
They cannot handle the truth, so they construct an alternative, albeit basless, reality.
I think the problem stems from their inability, or conscious refusal, to come to terms with the fact that over half of all voters reject their lib ideas. (Maybe it's more appropriate to say their lack of ideas.)
No gulags established by the U.S. in Eastern Europe, huh?
Oh, well.
The libs will always have Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.
