Not Yet, Brett!

This is it.

In about six and a half hours, we'll know if Brett Favre will return to play one more season with the Packers. Well, I won't know. I expect to be asleep; but as soon as I wake up, I'll know.

From the
Wisconsin State Journal:

Quarterback Brett Favre has scheduled a news conference for 7:30 a.m. today at his charity golf tournament in Mississippi, at which he is expected to announce his plans for this season - whether he'll retire or return for his 16th year in the NFL.

Becky Stuart, a personal assistant to the Favre family, confirmed to the Associated Press the news conference, which was previously scheduled, will be held and that Favre will speak about his future at the Cottonwoods Golf Course at Grand Casino Resort in Tunica, Miss.

I know all good things come to end.

I don't want it to happen yet.

One more season.

Brett was a great player.....One of the best ever, and his love for the game was great to watch.

Winning in the modern era in Green Bay is an awsome feat....One they won't see for ages after he retires.

That said, Brett should retire.

The Packers will be average at best, brutal at worst, and probably end up somewhere in-between......6-10 is my prediction.

And Brett will likely have more games of 3 INT's/1 TD's than he'll have vice versa.......It's a terrible way to end it all.

Time is the ultimate equalizer in sports, and Brett's time is up.......The only thing he can do by coming back one more year is get older, embarrass himself, and run an unnecessary risk of injuring himself.

I still remember Joe Montana limping around in a Chief's uniform, with his right elbow looking like it was disattached from his arm........It was sad, and should have never happened.

I know it's a tough issue for Cheeseheads. BRETT FAVRE gave them something they hadn't had in 25 years and likely won't for another 25.......A winner.

Unfortunately, I think he'll come back for another year......And next year this same topic will pop up.

Pero, I don't appreciate your honesty right now! Consider yourself banned from my blog!!!

I'm just kidding, of course.

I hear what you're saying about athletes staying around too long, but I think Brett is still strong.

I'm not expecting any miracles from the Packers overall next season, but Brett can still dazzle. If he had a talented team around him, this wouldn't even be an issue. I know he'd be back.

It seems like he's been waiting to see what moves the team is making before deciding whether another year would be aggravating or fun for him.

Whenever it happens, its going to be really tough to see him go.
