Speaker Pelosi

The Democrats are strikingly confident that they will win back the House come November.

George Stephanopoulos is so certain that he can't seem to refer to Nancy Pelosi without calling her "Speaker."

NewsBusters has the relevant portions of Sunday's This Week transcribed.

To Tom DeLay, after DeLay noted how if Democrats win the House John Conyers will take over the Judiciary Committee and he has promised to launch impeachment hearings:

“He has raised the prospect of impeachment, but the Democrats are also coming forward with another agenda, Speaker, ah perhaps Speaker Pelosi , she's certainly not the Speaker right now, the Democratic leader Pelosi says the Democrats' agenda is going to be four parts and I want to show it.” (On screen: raise minimum wage, prescription drug price control, implement 9/11 Commission recommendations and paying for tax cuts and spending increases.)

To Howard Dean:

“You talked about an ethics legislation coming forward in the first hundred days, that was not one of the top four pieces of legislation that Speaker Pelo -- uh, excuse me, I don't know why I've got that stuck in my head today. Must be reading the current polls-”

Dean, over Stephanopoulos: “I'm glad. I like the sound of that George, I like the sound of that!”

Stephanopoulos: “I'm sure you do, but it's not the case. She is just the Democratic leader. Excuse me.”

What an embarrassment!

So much for ABC being fair and balanced!

That's typical of the ABC News staff.

It wasn't that long ago that ABC producer
John Green's journalistic professionalism was exposed.

In an email to a newsroom colleague, Green wrote:

"Bush makes me sick. If he uses the 'mixed messages' line one more time, I'm going to puke."
Like Green, Steph is a Dem cheerleader. Case closed.

Over on Meet the Press, "Speaker" Pelosi was Tim Russert's guest.

This picture, from Drudge, hides the fact that she had way too many of the buttons on her blouse open. Who does she think she is? Maureen Dowd?
In addition to looking positively frightening, she said some eye-popping, idiotic things.

No transcript is available yet, so I don't have her exact quotes.

Commenting on rolling back Bush's tax cuts, Pelosi told Russert that if we bring our troops home from Iraq, we'll save money and declare energy independence.

Huh?

Of course, if we weren't in Iraq, we wouldn't have that expense; but just tossing out that we'll save money by becoming energy independent is nuts.

How do the Dems plan on making us energy independent?

Blocking drilling in ANWR isn't going to help. Neither are efforts, like Ted Kennedy's moves, to kill wind farm projects.

Her comments about impeaching the president were interesting. She did a lot of dodging and weaving, trying to give the nutjob base hope while not scaring off sensible Americans.

It's disgusting. Dems like Pelosi are probably the most effective weapon that the terrorists have right now.

My prediction:

If Pelosi does indeed become the Speaker of the House and the Dems take over, I think a Republican will be elected president in 2008 and Republicans will regain control in the House.

Dems Promise Changes ‘The First Day’ They’re Back in Charge
Democrats are ready to regain control of Congress, and they’ll start making changes as soon as they do, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Sunday. But she refused to be pinned down on how Democrats plan to pay for a higher minimum wage, “affordable” health care, lower-interest student loans, among other initiatives...

Warning: You'll need a strong stomach.

Mary, The Dems just may win the House because Republicans just might stay away from the polls.
In order for Bush to remedy this he needs to do one of two things or both.
#2 might do the trick.
1.) VETO an out of control spending bill.
2.) Go down to the border and say,
"Build That Wall."

I don't know, RJay.

For me, it's usually a matter of choosing the lesser evil.

Conservatives should be ticked off at Republicans for dropping the ball on a number of issues.

But the thought of "Speaker Pelosi" is so repulsive, I think conservatives will show up at the polls.
