Yeah, That's the Ticket

Liar.

Zacarias Moussaoui is a liar. He said so.

Of course, he could be lying.

WASHINGTON -- Convicted terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui, declaring his surprise at having received a fair trial, asked a federal judge Monday to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea so he can be tried again. This time he won't lie on the witness stand, he said.

Judge Leonie M. Brinkema quickly turned down the request. She said federal law prevents a criminal defendant from withdrawing a guilty plea after sentencing.

...Moussaoui, in a three-page affidavit filed in the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., said he was "extremely surprised" that he received a fair sentencing trial over the last two months and admitted that he lied when he testified he had been preparing to fly a fifth hijacked plane into the White House on Sept. 11, 2001.

The French Moroccan said he only agreed to plead guilty because 4½ years in solitary confinement had "made me hostile toward everyone and I began taking extreme positions to fight the system."

He further stated that he did not know lead hijacker Mohamed Atta or the other 18 hijackers. Several jurors indicated after Moussaoui's trial that they never believed he was a major participant in the Sept. 11 plot. They said that was one reason they sentenced him to life in prison rather than death.

..."Notwithstanding this prohibition," the defense lawyers said, "counsel is filing this motion given their problematic relationship with Moussaoui, of which the court is well aware." They were referring to Moussaoui's refusal to cooperate with them.

The judge's denial can be appealed. Carl Tobias, a law school professor at the University of Richmond in Virginia, said the government might see it as a second chance to get what they want — Moussaoui's execution.

Less than five days ago, U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema had this to say to Moussaoui when she sentenced him to life in prison:

"Mr. Moussaoui, when this proceeding is over, everyone else in this room will leave to see the sun ... hear the birds ... and they can associate with whomever they want. You will spend the rest of your life in a supermax prison. It's absolutely clear who won.

"Mr. Moussaoui, you came here to be a martyr in a great big bang of glory, but to paraphrase the poet T.S. Eliot, instead you will die with a whimper.

"You will never get a chance to speak again and that's an appropriate ending."

I asked last week:

Is Brinkema right about that?

She was WRONG.

It's only been a few days since his sentencing and Moussaoui is already yapping.

He's decided to claim that he lied about his involvement in the 9/11 plot and his ties to al Qaeda.

"God curse America, God save Osama bin Laden, you will never get him."

"I fight for my beliefs. You think that you own the world and I will prove that you are wrong."

"We are the soldiers of God and you are the army of Satan."

"America, you lost. I won."

All lies?

Sure. Moussaoui the victim. The poor baby chose to lie and taunt the 9/11 victims' loved ones because he didn't think he could get a fair trial in the U.S.

Personally, I don't want to hear it.

We were told that we'd never hear from Moussaoui again, but now he's recruiting every liberal nutjob to come to his defense.

Will the Tookie Williams brigade be eager to take up Moussaoui's cause?

Will
Mike Farrell campaign for justice for the victimized Moussaoui?

Will Teresa Heinz Kerry donate to his legal defense fund?

Will Moussaoui write children's books?

Will he get nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize?

I want him to shut up.

I don't want to hear his name in the news ever again.
