I'm getting sick of seeing Chris Matthews on The Tonight Show.
It seems like he's Leno's guest every few weeks. Is he auditioning to be Leno's Ed McMahon?
I suppose Matthews likes appearing on the show. It's the only time he actually has an audience. Cable viewers avoid Hardball like the plague.
Naturally, Matthews was critical of Bush. I didn't expect anything else.
He said that Bush has been a good friend of Israel but that's not enough. Matthews said he needs to be a broker, too, and "wear both hats."
Foreign policy genius Matthews said, "You have to be able to talk to the Arabs."
Matthews claims that "Bush doesn't want dialogue," adding "That's where I disagree with this president."
How stupid is that? Matthews declares that Bush doesn't want to talk. How lame!
I think it's funny that the Left always belittles Bush for having a black and white view of the world.
In reality, at least when it comes to Bush, the Left has a black and white view -- Bush is always wrong, whatever he does.
Chris Matthews then did some cheerleading for Bill Clinton. He said that he agrees with Dianne Feinstein's idea to use Clinton as an envoy.
Yeah, there's an idea. God help us.
I guess Clinton would be better in the role than Jimmy Carter, but not much.
Matthews than fantasized about Washington being more like The West Wing. He shared that he cried while watching the final episode.
I can't picture that. Well, I admit it's more that I prefer not to imagine it.
When Leno brought up Newt Gingrich's comment about the hostilities in the Middle East being World War III, Matthews responded, "I think Newt's World War III."
Then Leno brought up Bush's candid remark heard 'round the world. Leno thought it was silly for the press to make such a big deal out of it.
Matthews thought all the attention it received was appropriate.
He commented, "When they finally say something they mean, we cut it out. It’s like... He meant it. I wish they’d cut out the 16 words that got us into iraq, however."
What a load! Once these libs latch on to a talking point, they never let it go, no matter how false or misleading.
Interestingly, Matthews predicted that Rudy Giuliani will be the next president.
He pointed out some positives about Giuliani, saying that he is "tougher than the president we have now."
He also cited as a plus that Giuliani won't have a ranch.
Matthews said, "I want a president who's there on the spot."
Yawn...
