Doyle's Distortions: "Six Times"

Today, Jim Doyle went on the attack.

Apparently, recent poll results showing that he's in a dead heat with Republican Mark Green spooked him.

The Greater Wisconsin Committee, Doyle's shadowy slime machine, wasn't getting the job done and neither was the Democratic Party of Wisconsin; so Doyle is resorting to their tactics of using distortions/lies in order to gain ground on Green.

This latest ad from Doyle really ticks me off because it is just so intellectually dishonest.

See Doyle's newest
TV ad.

Read the Doyle campaign's
press release.

The ad, a 30-second spot entitled “Six Times,” features Jody Montgomery of Verona, and her four-year-old daughter Maddy, who has juvenile diabetes.

“Governor Jim Doyle understands the vast promise of stem cell research to cure terrible diseases and change lives, and so does Jody Montgomery,” said Anson Kaye, Communications Director for the Doyle campaign. “But Mark Green wants to shut it down. Governor Doyle will never turn his back on people like Jody and Maddy, but Mark Green already has.”

In the ad, Jody talks about the night that she learned that Maddy had juvenile diabetes, and the heartbreaking regimen she has been on ever since – testing Maddy’s blood sugar six times a day.

Noting that it’s stem cell researchers in Wisconsin who are leading the way on stem cell research, Jody says: “So when a Washington politician like Mark Green says he’s going to outlaw stem cell research, I say, tell it to my daughter.” (A complete frame by frame of the ad is attached to this release.)

“Mark Green attempts to obscure his staunch opposition of stem cell research through verbal sleight of hand and distortion, but his record is clear – he wants to slam the door on stem cell research, and if he had his way, he’d shut it down,” Kaye said.

What a sleazy attempt to use Jody and Maddy Montgomery's struggle to score political points!

The ad relies on the same flat out lies that the Democratic Party of Wisconsin has been spreading about Green's position on stem cell research.

MARK GREEN SUPPORTS STEM CELL RESEARCH.

To suggest otherwise is a lie.

The ad virtually states that Green is standing in the way of helping cute, little Maddy.

LIE.

This is interesting.

Research at the University of Florida reveals that
ADULT STEM CELLS show promise in the treatment of diabetes.

That's the sort of research and treatment that Mark Green supports.

If Green has his way, little Maddy wouldn't have to have her blood tested six times daily.

Green backs research that's getting results.

Obviously, Doyle is afraid of the truth

Simply put, Doyle is a liar.

I think the ad is so sleazy. It's such a cheap attack and so deceptive.

Why does one lie?

When one doesn't want the truth to come out.

Clearly, Doyle doesn't want voters to the know the truth about Mark Green's position on stem cell research.

His lies prove that he lacks confidence.

It irked me the first time I saw it, and made me angry. I swore that the next time I would catch the names, etc, but each time, did not catch it until the end. Today, same thing happened, but I finally had time and took the time to post about it in my blog.

I think it is part of ALL the kinds of propaganda we have been subjected to for a long time. Tell a lie often enough and it becomes believable. Unfortunately, most people just accept what is said instead of thinking for themselves.

Mark Green does NOT deserve this. He is NOT stopping stem cell research; NO one is. But we don't need our tax dollars paying for this 'research' that will lead nowhere but down...

I agree. The ad is sleazy. Very sleazy.

It's really a disservice to mislead the public this way.

Mark Green aside, the public needs to understand stem cell research issues.

This ad just muddies the waters.

Doyle is such a liar. There's no question that he's intentionally setting out to deceive the public.
