Mommy Mary Cheney

Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Mary is pregnant.

Why is this a big deal?

Well, she will have the baby out of wedlock and she's gay.

Activists on both sides of the gay marriage/parenting issue are having a field day with this.

From the Right:

Janice Shaw Crouse of Concerned Women for America calls the pregnancy "unconscionable," and says, "Not only is she doing a disservice to her child, she's voiding all the effort her father put into the Bush administration."

Carrie Gordon Earll of Focus on the Family says, "Children deserve the very best we can offer, and gay adoption -- by definition -- intentionally denies children either a mother or a father. Adoption laws should put the needs of children first, above the desires of adults."

From the Left:
Jennifer Chrisler of Family Pride says, "The news of Mary Cheney’s pregnancy exemplifies, once again, how the best interests of children are denied when lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens are treated unfairly and accorded different and unequal rights and responsibilities than other parents."

Chrisler also says, "Grandfather Cheney will no doubt face a lifetime of sleepless nights as he reflects on the irreparable harm he and his administration have done to the millions of American gay and lesbian parents and their children."

Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts push their pro-gay marriage agenda by answering selected "questions" about Mary Cheney's pregnancy.

There is something "unconscionable" about Mary Cheney's pregnancy.

It's unconscionable that the child is being exploited by both the libs and the conservatives.

Wasn't John Kerry's shameless exploitation of Dick Cheney's gay daughter a problem during the 2004 campaign?

Kerry used her in an attempt to turn conservative voters against the Republicans, as if Dick Cheney was somehow being hypocritical for loving his daughter.

I thought that was terribly inappropriate.

I think it's wrong for Mary Cheney's pregnancy to be used to advance a political agenda, WHATEVER that may be.

It's unconscionable for the Left to use this baby to attack Dick Cheney and the Bush administration.

It's also unconscionable for the Right to use the baby to attack Mary Cheney and her partner.

I'm curious as to who 'on the left' is 'exploiting' this pregnancy. (Serious question.)
