In spite of the fact that the media kept reporting on the Bay View and far south side robberies as if they were the work of one man, or as of Sunday, one man and his female accomplice, a statement from the Milwaukee Police Department FINALLY clarifies how misleading those reports were.
From The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
The series of armed robberies that rattled the Bay View neighborhood and dozens of south side businesses appears to have been the work of a gang, and not a small one, police revealed Monday.
"We have numerous people in custody and we're seeking others," Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said at a morning briefing. "There's a whole lot more (suspects) than two."
For weeks, I've been pointing out that one person was not responsible.
Earlier today, I said it once again with the news that two people were arrested in connection to the robberies.
It makes sense to me that the robberies have been the work of a gang.
It should be reassuring to people in the area that police have "numerous people in custody."
That fact that police are seeking others should remind them that it's not time to breathe easy yet.
Actually, I think the days of breathing easy in Milwaukee are over; but it does seem that the police have made major progress in solving the Bay View/far south side crime outbreak since December.
That's good news.
