Final Jabs at Jerry Falwell

The lib media and Leftists have no shame.

Death doesn't stop their attacks. The venom flows.

Jerry Falwell's death is being seized as an opportunity to slam him. The man is dead so I guess they feel the need to get in their final swipes.

I think they were kinder to Saddam Hussein at his death.

Falwell had once opposed mixing preaching with politics, but he changed his view and in 1979, founded the Moral Majority. The political lobbying organization grew to 6.5 million members and raised $69 million as it supported conservative politicians and campaigned against abortion, homosexuality, pornography and bans on school prayer.

Falwell became the face of the religious right, appearing on national magazine covers and on television talk shows. In 1983, U.S. News & World Report named him one of 25 most influential people in America.

In 1984, he sued Hustler magazine for $45 million, charging that he was libeled by an ad parody depicting him as an incestuous drunkard. A federal jury found the fake ad did not libel him, but awarded him $200,000 for emotional distress. That verdict was overturned, however, in a landmark 1988 U.S. Supreme Court decision that held that even pornographic spoofs about a public figure enjoy First Amendment protection.

...With Falwell's high profile came frequent criticism, even from fellow ministers. The Rev. Billy Graham once rebuked him for political sermonizing on "non-moral issues."

Falwell quit the Moral Majority in 1987, saying he was tired of being "a lightning rod" and wanted to devote his time to his ministry and Liberty University. But he remained outspoken and continued to draw criticism for his remarks.

Days after Sept. 11, 2001, Falwell essentially blamed feminists, gays, lesbians and liberal groups for bringing on the terrorist attacks. He later apologized.

In 1999, he told an evangelical conference that the Antichrist was a male Jew who was probably already alive. Falwell later apologized for the remark but not for holding the belief. A month later, his National Liberty Journal warned parents that Tinky Winky, a purple, purse-toting character on television's "Teletubbies" show, was a gay role model and morally damaging to children.

Over the weekend, I posted a blog titled The Evils of Radical Fundamentalism and I mentioned Jerry Falwell in the piece as being one of the men responsible for the destructive movement against democracy.

I don't take joy when someone I find repulsive has come to his or her end, and that is the case with the death of Jerry Falwell.

However, I am certainly not crying either.

Even though Falwell made some despicable, confounding comments and showed no remorse for those who were dealing with AIDS, or died on 9/11 at the hands radical fundamentalists, or from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, I, on the other hand, will rise above such hatred and hold my tongue, bow my head and dwell in silent gratitude.

Oh I know what you are thinking...

How can I be so disrespectful and unsympathetic. Jerry Falwell was a human being! Think of his family! Well, okay I am sorry to his family for their loss.

But if there is a God and if there is divine justice, then I hope that hypocritical bigot; that riotous, elitist, power-hungry, dissembling bigot is on the fast track straight to hell.

...He was a sick, twisted man who worked to keep people afraid, used religion and God for his own advancement and from his mighty (and paid for) pulpit had the audacity to point down from on high and exclaim that all of the world's wrongs were perpetrated by..............people with a particular political affiliation.

His ignorance and brevity did nothing to further the national dialogue because he was not about America. He was about power. He was about HIS own beliefs and actively worked to marginalize anyone who disagreed or chose to live "differently". Yeah..very American, very christian.

Funny how hate and finger-pointing made his so rich. Coincidence?

But wait; he was a good christian wasn't he?

No. I cannot be controvertial, I am nothing more than a gay-loving, feminazi, shrill lefty kook. I am one anonymous blogger and I don't have a university, political influence or millions of dollars. I don't have a president who won't speak to the majority of Congress about serious issues like Iran but will meet with me because a large group of people hang on his every word.

How sad of a nation are we that THAT excuse for a christian, who worshipped mamman, who lied, who slandered, who judged so harshly had such respect and a voice in the national dialogue as....a man of God. He spoke to and for the very worst of our society and was greatly financially rewarded.

If divine justice does exist, then I say Jerry...Fall well!

It's no surprise that Rosie O'Donnell showed no compassion for Falwell or his survivors. On The View, she joined the "Good riddance" chorus.

"She said his death did not make her sad and then said 'whatever.' "

When people left comments on her blog about her callous, unkind reaction to Falwell's death, she didn't acknowledge what they said. O'Donnell merely posted quotes attributed to Falwell.
