Memorial Day: Remembrance and Gratitude

Sparks from the Anvil

"The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart. . .should swell into a mighty chorus of remembrance, gratitude and rededication on this solemn occasion."

---Abraham Lincoln

St. Augustine was a liar. The purpose of all wars is money.

And thanks for the poignant reminders of the sacrifices of so many Americans that you posted on your site, Pero.

What sickos, Fourpointer!

mudkitty, you're not making any sense. You said the purpose of all wars is money. That's not true, not true at all. It's a ridiculous statement

Moreover, what does your Jewish husband have to do with it?

Being married to a Jewish man doesn't make you the all-knowing moral authority on Nazis or the Holocaust.

And remember, not only Jews were killed in the camps.

You were the one trying to make your point on their backs of Nazi victims, Mary.

I make perfect sense - you just don't get it, or you don't want to.

Wars are profitable, big time.
Winners vs losers. Ever hear the expression "the spoils of war?" If you don't know that, you need to hip yourself. WW2, a just war, for example, got our country out of the depression.

Actually, Germany declared war on us, after we declared war on their allies the Japanese, who are now our friends, along with the Germans.

And yes, as I wrote, if you had paid attention, WW2 was a just war. This war; the war and occupation of Iraq isn't. Big dif. It's not like Saddam had armies marching all across Europe.

So how do you reconcile that with your "The purpose of ALL wars is money?"

No, Iraq didn't "have armies marching across Europe." But they were well on their way to being capable of attacking Israel. And if you don't think that Saddam would have teamed up with Ahmed-is-a-nutjob to "wipe Israel off the face of the map", think again.

We found Al-Qaida training camps in Iraq. John "Does this make my hair look poofy?" Edwards, in the VP debates in '04, said that "Al-Qaida is operating in over 60 countries." And, like Ann Coulter so vivdly pointed out, "Saddam, being the statesman that he is, has managed to keep them out of Iraq." Even the most left-wing liberals like Dingy Harry, Queen Nan from SanFran, John Heinz-Kerry, and The Clintons said that Saddam had WMD's long before we attacked. But, peaceful guy that he is, he would have never used them. Just like he wouldn't have made weapons in that nuclear plant that Israel blew up back in 1981.
