Planned Parenthood Makes a Killing

Planned Parenthood, the nation's leading provider of abortions, had a banner year -- breaking records in number of abortions performed, profits, and the amount of taxpayer dollars it took in.

(CNSNews.com) -- Despite a drop in donations and the first fall in income from clinics in its history, the nation's biggest abortion provider made a high profit last year, thanks to the American taxpayer. Pro-lifers want this to stop.

During its 2005-2006 fiscal year, the nonprofit Planned Parenthood Federation of America performed a record 264,943 abortions, attained a high profit of $55.8 million and received record taxpayer funding of $305.3 million.

For the year July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006, Planned Parenthood received $345.1 million in clinic income, $305.3 million in taxpayer funding and $212.2 million in donations. Total income reached $902.8 million while total expenses came to $847.0 million, leaving a profit of $55.8 million.

Numerous calls to Planned Parenthood offices in both New York City and Washington, D.C., seeking comment for this article, were not returned, but a statement on the organization's website says that the report "illustrates the achievements of an organization founded to prevent unintended pregnancy and protect women's health and safety."

I don't read the report that way at all.

I think it illustrates the achievements of an organization dedicated to death and the devaluing of life.

Particularly disturbing is the fact that while clinic income dropped, and donations dropped, taxpayer funding rose to an all-time high.

..."The bottom line is that Planned Parenthood is losing donations, its clinic income is down, and you and I are being forced to pay more so the organization can kill our children through abortion and spread its perverted ideology throughout the land," [Jim Sedlak, executive director of Stop Planned Parenthood (STOPP) International said.]

The numbers are undeniable.

More taxpayer dollars than ever are being granted to Planned Parenthood.

The organization terminated a record number of pregnancies.

Planned Parenthood ended 264,943 lives in the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

In just one year's time, over a quarter million lives were aborted, using a record portion of tax dollars.

Our government subsidized a quarter million murders.

It was a very good year for the slaughter of the weak and innocent, and you helped pay for it.

When I was in high school I used planned parenthood. It might interest you to know that when counselling me they always mentioned abstinence as the first and best form of birth control.

As I matured I used them as an excellent women's health care provider. I did not always have health insurance and they always made sure I had what I needed be it condoms or an annual exam or a pap test, or proper follow up testing on a lump in my breast.

As my circumstances in life improved I was able to donate money back to them. That felt great, knowing I was helping other women who needed a hand tending to their health issues.

Whe I married my wonderful husband (of 19 years now) and we were ready to have a child Planned Parenthood helped me plan that as well with pre natal tests and a referral to an obstetrician when the goal was acheived.

Who knows, with out the education provided by Planned Parenthood I might have gotten pregnant at 17, had an abortion or married the wrong guy. Maybe I would have gotten an STD that caused me to become infertile.

I'd still be going to Planned Parenthood if we had not moved to Canada. Actually after reading your post I'm feeling a bit nostalgic and guilty about not sending them a donation lately...now where is my checkbook?

I guess we'll just have to agree to respectfully desagree.

It's too bad that Planned Parenthood is in the business of killing babies.

If it were only a health care provider for women rather than a terminator of life, the organization would be doing noble work.

I know that some services it provides are positive and life-saving.

Unfortunately, the abortion mill aspect of it kind of negates that.
