Beyonce Falls, Sony BMG Fails

Beyonce had a YouTube moment at a concert in Orlando on Tuesday.

She took a dramatic fall down some steps as she performed.

Luckily, she wasn't seriously injured. The show went on. Apparently, the only thing that really took a beating was her ego.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Home video shot at Tuesday night's Beyonce concert in Orlando captured the music superstar stepping on her trench coat and then tumbling head-first down 12 steps at the Amway Arena.

The video of the fall was released despite Beyonce's request during the show that fans in the crowd not post the video on YouTube.

An Orlando woman at the concert, who did not want to be identified, offered the video to WKMG-TV early Wednesday. She said Beyonce fell on her face.

"We saw that she was pumping her hair around and really into with her trench coat and high heels and as she proceeded to come down the stairs, she tripped on her coat and it seems like she fell on her collarbone and face, sliding down about 12 stairs," the woman said.

Another fan told entertainment site mediatakeout.com that the singer was bleeding after the fall.

Video showed Beyonce getting up after the fall and continuing to dance.

The singer's request not to post the video of the fall on YouTube came at the end of her show Tuesday night.

Here's more, from ETOnline:

BEYONCÉ, usually known for her smooth dance moves, found herself with two left feet Tuesday night when she fell down a set of stairs during a concert in Florida while performing her hit single "Ring the Alarm."

A spokesperson for Columbia Records says the incident "was a mere spot on an otherwise sensational, flawless show. It was a case of her coat's hem getting caught in her shoes, but Miss Knowles picked herself right up, without missing a beat, showing to all that she is the best."

And while the "Irreplaceable" singer reportedly asked fans in the audience if they had shot her tumble to please not post it on the Internet, the footage nonetheless made it to such sites as YouTube.

Before cell phone video and YouTube, it would have been much easier for Beyonce and Sony to keep the images of the fall from the public.

Sony tried to shut down the video postings of Beyonce's fall, but all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Beyonce upright again.

And it was all over newscasts yesterday anyway.

Beyonce deserves credit for continuing with the show and giving her best to her audience, the mark of a true professional.

She should be applauded for upholding "the show must go on" tradition.

She fell. It was a scary moment, not an embarrassing one. This wasn't a Michael Richards moment caught on video.

It would have been wiser for Sony BMG to let it go rather than claiming copyright infringement.

Although Sony has legitimate copyright claims, the media giant and Beyonce come off like control freaks.

A message to Beyonce: Real people fall down. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

A message to Sony BMG: You can muzzle all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot muzzle all the people all the time.

how does sony own the copyright of it? wouldn't it be copyright of whoever filmed it?

Sony owns the rights to images of Beyonce.

But then there are issues of fair use, etc.
