David T. Currin

Here's some news for the relatives of Shaniqua Davis, the mother of the 6-year-old boy shot a week ago by a 3-year-old girl.

They claimed to be unfamiliar with the man that Davis and her children live with.

Neighbors and family said Shaniqua Davis moved into the home with her kids three or four months ago. Family members were not familiar with the man who was arrested but believed him to be "the man of the house," said Sabrina Davis, Shaniqua Davis' sister.

Hill said her daughter "just lives with them" and acknowledged that the home was not a good environment for her grandchildren.

"She needs to move somewhere else," Hill said.

Relatives of Shaniqua Davis and the public now know the name of the mysterious "man of the house" -- David T. Currin.

Roshann Hill, mother of Shaniqua Davis, lives only a block away from the house where her daughter and grandchildren lived for months yet she was "unfamiliar" with the man they lived with.

Davis' sister Sabrina only knew him as "the man of the house."

That's more than a little hard to swallow.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with illegally possessing a gun used by a 3-year-old girl to shoot a 6-year-old boy, according to a criminal complaint.

David T. Currin was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Tariq Davis is recovering after being shot in his abdomen Aug. 7 in his home in the 3000 block of N. Teutonia Ave.

According to the complaint, the boy's 6-year-old cousin picked up the loaded .32 caliber weapon from behind a stove and handed it to the 3-year-old, who then pulled the trigger.

Currin was convicted in May 2003, of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, the complaint says.

Here Davis' relatives finally get familiar with "the man of the house" and now he might be sent away to prison.

That's life, I guess.
