In the span of six hours, there were at least three shootings and a stabbing on the streets of Milwaukee.
From The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
* A 29-year-old woman is in custody in the stabbing of a 27-year-old man at 3:30 a.m. during a domestic incident in the 2000 block of N. 29th St., according to police.
* The latest shooting came about 3 a.m. when a 43-year-old man was shot in the street in the 2600 block of N. 34th St. He is in stable condition today at a local hospital. There is no one in custody.
* Police are also seeking a suspect in a shooting about 1 a.m. in the 2300 block of W. National Ave. A 26-year-old man was wounded on the street. He is also in stable condition.
* Investigators have a known adult male suspect they are seeking in the shooting of a 19-year-old about 9 p.m. near N. 10th and W. Nash streets last night. He received a non-life-threatening wound, police said.
Maybe it's just me, but that seems like a lot of shooting and violence in such a short amount of time.
One has to wonder what the numbers would be if not for the Neighborhood Safety Initiative.
I guess we'll find out on September 8, when the program ends.
