Dave Obey on a Streak

Dave Obey continues to shoot off his mouth and embarrass the people of Wisconsin.

From the Wausau Daily Herald:

President Bush is behaving like a spoiled child by refusing to meet with congressional Democrats to negotiate an agreement on the federal budget, Rep. Dave Obey said Tuesday after Bush vetoed a bill setting funding levels for labor, health and education.

"It's time for the White House to stop huffing and puffing and sit down (with Congress) and negotiate our differences," Obey, a Wausau Democrat, told the Daily Herald. "That's what adults would be doing."

...Democratic leaders in Congress have requested meetings with the White House and have been rebuffed.Obey said he was told by the budget director that "there was really nobody in the White House interested in compromising."

"(Bush) thinks if he holds his breath and turns blue that eventually the Congress will not be able to do anything but give him his budget," Obey said. "There's no question he has the upper hand with the veto, but it's incredibly destructive when you can't get people to sit down and work out their differences."

Obey has legitimate points to make.

Fine.

But because of his style, his pattern of using disrespectful terms and imagery, in this case depicting Bush as a spoiled child, his points are lost.

Obey's boorish behavior is an embarrassment.

After all these years, you'd think that he'd learn to be more diplomatic.

When I think of how Democrats slimed John Bolton for allegedly being abusive, and then I read Obey's on the record remarks, I wonder why Dems don't rein in Obey.
