Shootings and Robberies in Milwaukee

Same old, same old.

In roughly 12 hours, from Sunday afternoon to early Monday morning, there were at least 5 shootings in Milwaukee, one resulting in death.

A quick summary:

67-year-old clerk at Love's Liquor shot during robbery

22-year-old man shot by four known suspects

Gunfire outside of Club Escape, one shot dead, one injured

Appleton Ave. McDonald's robbed, one shot

New police chief Ed Flynn will be visiting Milwaukee later this week.

Flynn can expect a long list of people hoping to meet him, from aldermen and city department heads to leaders of other law enforcement agencies, ministers, activists, police union officials and the command staff and rank-and-file officers within the department.

In addition to city leaders and officials, Flynn should meet with some crime victims. Perhaps he could spend some time with the victims of the McDonald's robbery at 7451 W. Appleton Ave.

I bet McDonald's patrons and employees of the 5739 W. Silver Spring Drive location would like to meet him, too.

I hope outsider Flynn brings more than a fresh perspective to Milwaukee. I hope he cares more about bringing back law and order to the city than being pals with officials.

I hope he gets tough, really tough.
