The Greater Wisconsin Committee and Michael Gableman

The Greater Wisconsin Committee is back at work.

This time its target is state Supreme Court candidate Michael Gableman.

Jeff Wagner details the group's latest venture.

He writes:

[T]he special interests behind the Greater Wisconsin Committee purchased almost $200,000 worth of television time to run a truly smarmy ad against state Supreme Court candidate Michael Gableman. The ad implies that Gableman bribed former Governor Scott McCallum with campaign donations to secure a judicial appointment in 2002. Hmm? Would the same logic therefore suggest that every judge appointed by Governor Jim Doyle who had previously made a campaign donation to Doyle secured their position by virtue of a bribe? I wonder what the Governor would say about this suggestion?

The reality of this April's Wisconsin Supreme Court race is that both candidates are decent people with two distinctly different judicial philosophies. There are a lot of substantive contrasts between the two that will present voters will a real choice. Unfortunately, ads like the one produced by the hacks at the Greater Wisconsin Committee really contribute nothing towards helping people make this choice. They are, quite simply, a disgrace.

The Greater Wisconsin Committee gives the Left a bad name.

Wagner calls the group and its tactics "pond scum." That, of course, is an insult to pond scum.

Not extremely familiar with the race, but I just saw a pro-Gableman ad on TV and googled him to learn more. I do recall seeing the anti-Gableman ad. Just minutes before the pro-Gableman ad, there was an even more negative/most likely misleading ad run against a fellow named Louis Butler. Oh! There's another one on now. The ads are trying to make him sound sympathetic to criminals. I'll go ahead and assume that is false. Didn't catch the name of the group running the ads, but I have to say, whoever it is, is as bad if not worse than the group you cited running the anti-Gableman ad.
