UPDATE, March 28, 2008: Muslims denounce film on Islam

Hundreds of angry Muslims marched Friday in Pakistan and denounced a Dutch legislator's film that portrays Islam as a ticking time bomb aimed at the West. Dutch Muslims were more restrained, saying they had expected worse.

The 15-minute film — titled "Fitna," or "Strife" in Arabic — was made by anti-immigrant lawmaker Geert Wilders and was posted on a Web site Thursday.

...Wilders told reporters he made the film because "Islam and the Quran are dangers to the preservation of freedom in the Netherlands."

He argues in the film that Islam's objective is to rule the world and impose an Islamic order without Western freedoms, where gays would be persecuted and women discriminated against.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch ambassador to deliver an official complaint against what it called a "defamatory film which deeply offended the sentiments of Muslims all over the world."

Small groups of demonstrators, mostly followers of hard-line religious groups, rallied in Pakistan's major cities, demanding Pakistan cut diplomatic relations with the Netherlands. A banner at one demonstration read: "We hate the uncivilized West."

Militant Qari Mohammed Yusuf warned before the film's release that revenge attacks were being planned.

"I am telling you now that after this maybe you won't be able to come to Peshawar like this. Foreigners will not be able to come so easily anywhere in Pakistan," he told The Associated Press last week in an interview in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Condemnations also came from the government of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, Iran and Jordan.

"It is not Islam that should be stopped, it is fear-mongers like Geert Wilders who should be stopped from spreading their hatred," said Zakaria al-Sheik of the Rassoul Allah Yajmana, a Jordanian group formed to protect the image of Islam.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also condemned the movie.

"There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence. The right of free expression is not at stake here," he said in a statement. "The real fault line is not between Muslim and Western societies, as some would have us believe, but between small minorities of extremists, on different sides, with a vested interest in stirring hostility and conflict."

The Council of Europe said the film was a "distasteful manipulation" that exploits fear, and three U.N. rights experts said it showed a distorted vision of Muslims.

The World Council of Churches said the film failed to distinguish extremism from mainstream Islam.

...Dutch Muslims said the film misrepresented Islam, but that Wilders had largely stayed within the bounds of acceptable political discourse. Wilders praised their civil reaction.

Mohamed Rabbae, leader of a group representing the Netherlands' large Moroccan immigrant community, said the film was "less bad" than expected from Wilders' prior comments. Rabbae called on Muslims abroad to be calm and let Dutch Muslims deal with Wilders, adding: "Harming Dutch people harms us."

"I wasn't personally offended," said Imad el Ouarti, a worshipper at El Umma mosque in Amsterdam. He said Wilders had taken Quranic texts out of context and had reused images that have been seen thousands of times since Sept. 11, 2001. "It's just tasteless and non-creative, as if a child had pasted it together."

Kurt Westergaard, the artist who has lived under police protection since the Muhammad cartoon was published two years ago, objected that Wilders had violated his copyright. "I won't accept my cartoon being taken out of its original context and used in a completely different one," he told Denmark's TV2.

A Rotterdam court said it would rule April 7 on a petition by the Dutch Islamic Federation seeking to gag Wilders and order him to publicly apologize.

Wilders' lawyer Serge Vlaar said the federation "wants to ban a point of view," which he said was not possible under Dutch law.

Federation lawyer Ejder Kose countered that "my clients are not attacking freedom of speech. This is about ending the unjustified insulting of Islam."

Strong and powerful message to the world...open your eyes before its too late. We must unite and fight against these radical elements that exist within our society and constantly challenge the very foundation of our existence...freedom. We must fight Islam and defeat their way of life before they destroy ours forever.

I don't think this is a stupid film. I think most non-Muslim Europeans feel this way about radical Islam, so I don't think it's controversial or contentious, except that it does not mention anything about non-radical Islam.
There are many Muslims in Europe who hold the views presented in the film and, even though I am strongly liberal, I tend to agree with Wilders that there should be no place for these people in our continent.

Sorry, but most of us are already learning far more about Islam than we ever wanted to know. Such as:

1. For Muslims, the world is divided into two entities -- Dar al Islam (The House of Islam) and Dar al Harab (The House of War). In other words, any person or country who doesn't submit to Islam will be at war with Islam until it does.

2. Taqia It is OK to lie to infidels, if it promotes Islam.

3. Dhimmi Second class citizens who are non-Muslim are allowed to live as long as they pay a tax to their Muslim overlords and accept that they are below any and all Muslims in every way.

Thanks, but no thanks. Keep it in the Middle East not threatening the Christian world, and you are free to practice whatever you wish. But quit trying to shove garbage down our throats, trying to convince us it tastes sweet!

ok perhaps there are stuff that we don't like aabout islam , but we must always know that people in the east doesn't like what others do in the west , it's very normal to have a cultural conflicts it's impossible to have totally te same values within 2 different cultures but the real thing that we must seriously think about is : How Can We Bridge These Two Cultures Without Creating HATNESS??

It's very obvious that creating such movies like FITNA or anything else wouldn't make it easier on both and we all know that this movie will increase the complexity of the situation , so instead of mentioning the "bad" stuff - according to our opinions - let us start a new page with love and peace an respect and to despise all those who aim for creating problems.....

A lot of people ask why there are so many contradictory verses in the Koran. Reason: Mohammed was mentally unstable so he said contradictory things at different stages of his life. Somewhere he says 'Kill wherever you see them' [that is the infidels]; somewhere he says 'leave it to God, he will judge them', somewhere else he says 'don't befriend them'.

Mohammed is an insane paranoid man. His religion spread through war and terror. What we hear about Islamic Art and Civilization such as architecture of mosques, poetry etc. is not from Islam itself but from the humanity and art of the defeated countries attacked by Islamic Barbarians who forced these people into Islam as otherwise these people had to pay a special tax to them.

The Council Churches and some others have criticized Wilders for not talking about mainstream Islam. This is like saying when someone has cancer don't bother about the cancerous tissue, think of the larger normal body cells! Have you ever heard of a bigger stupidity? You must judge dangerous elements by their virulence not numbers.

The node for destruction of civilization is in the Koran and, if not now, it can be used in future by thugs and psychopaths in the service of a new form of fascism.

In which humane ideology you find instruction for men to beat their wives if they don't submit to them. You find the instruction in the Koran. A cookbook of common sense moral advise mixed with virtually demonic injunction to beat, kill and maim. The mind of Mohammed is a battleground between Santan and God and he is a chimeric incarnation of both. A God with a Satan's Head.

Wilders has served humanity by opening up debate with his film. He doesn't insult anybody. He shows the truth. He does't want hate. His message is very humane.
His words were confirmed by threats of death made to Liveleak.com staff (who had put up the film on their Website) by the same hateful Muslims so the Website has currently had to remove it. You can still watch the film on www.YouTube.Com

It's a shame that the film was pulled from Live Link before many people who wanted to could see it.

It is so interesting that Islamists try to deny the words in their scriptures when their actions speak so much louder.

What is completely ridiculous and hypocritical is that the Islamic world is threatening to attack Denmark, cut off all ties with Denmark, expel foreigners from their "countries" or just murder them outright, because "one man" made a 15 minute movie that hardly anyone has ever seen due to the web hosts who continue to pull it for "fear of offending Islam." Islam which threatens violence and death to any who would ever dare to criticize it and then the Clerics and Mullahs yell, it's "Islamophobia"...Fear mongering...blah blah...

I wonder where the fearing and criticizing and rejecting and despising of Islam originates, if not by witnessing the practitioners of Islam?

The only reason Islamic leaders are so terrified of allowing Islam to accept criticism and offer true debate is because they know that no lie can afford to be exposed by the truth, or it will lose all power and be erased from use.

What are they so afraid of...if the Q'uran is God's word which it is not in my opinion, then it would withstand any effort to criticize or discredit it.

Faith in Christ on the other hand can and has withstood "every" assault and criticism and does so on a daily basis, especially under the persecution in Islamic communities and countries.

When Jesus Christ was before Pontius Pilate, He did not use His Divine Power to attack or destroy His accusers, He willingly suffered and died for us, willingly sacrificing His life so that we could be spared from the penalty of our sins against Him! This is the true "Divine" and "Godly" example to follow, not becoming self-righteous and threatening death to any who disagree with you.

You will not see Christians issuing fatwahs when Islamic mobs burn our churches to the ground or when they execute Catholic Priests and butcher Christian Pastors as happened in Turkey not long ago, because since we "as fallible human sinners" are saved by "God's Grace" and forgiven for our lifetime of sins against God by our faith in Jesus Christ, it is certainly not now our place to judge/condemn another sinner when we didn't earn or deserve that Grace that was "freely given" to us by God through our faith in His only Son.

When cartoons and television shows that promote violence and murder against Jews and Christians are aired and repeated in Islamic countries, or and when Christians and non-muslims are beheaded, or when Q'uranic followers kill their own wives, sisters, aunts and children for any number of insults to family honor, or for becoming too western if they happen to live in a western nation, or when little girls are stoned in the streets by mobs of angry self righteous murderers with police looking on, for befriending someone who is not of their sect, or when they chant for a teacher to be executed for allowing her muslim student to name a teddy bear muhammed...etc etc...it only supports that Islam is a derogatory, bigoted, egotistical, and violent religion bent on world domination and oprresion of women. And you will not see Christians rioting and issuing fatwahs against those who do such things, and we certainly will not be calling for a holy war.

God, the "One True God Almighty" knows all. And He does not "need" us to "do" anything "for" Him, because "He" is all powerful and nothing is outside of His control.

Apparently, the Q'uran calls for it's followers to be self-righteous, and judgmental...whereas the Bible teaches not to judge others, and certainly not to kill all who disbelieve. All people will die at their appointed time, and God will judge us all, but those who kill for Islam must believe that they themselves are sinless, or they could never condemn another person for the same kinds of sins they themselves are guilty of. This is utter hypocrisy.

And the rejection of Islam is supposed to be because of some vague notion of Islamophobia brought about in the media?

I don't think so.

We who love God reject Islam because it rejects God's Word and promotes that the individual should become vengeance upon others when all have sinned and are guilty of breaking God's Commandments, and none can be saved without the Grace and Mercy of God.

Violent action against another sinner will never make a person righteous. This is where Islam falls to pieces in it's hypocrisy, and the very reactions to this short film by the Islamic world have "proven fully" what the film was intended to.

Even if there was no film as some suggested early on, the mere mention of such a film...provided the reactions, without ever requiring that a real film ever be aired.

after 9/11 almost everybody is against islam & muslims. certain influencial people are using the ayats [ sayings of Quran] to manipulate things. one of my human brother said that prophet of muslims was out of his mind. he says one thing at one point n other at other. infact that man has to read the context before commenting on it.
its like i say to you : if you jump in the well n kill your self, its no use to finish your life in vain.
and you only take one part :"jump in the well n kill youself" and propagate this thing all around n force the court to sentence me penalty of death for luring you to life threatening action.

so my fellow humans, we live on a blessed planet called Earth, in the wild cold space. it's no use to miss interpret any religion & to beleif over the so called pseudo scholars of islam.

islam has been much much manipulated by few groups. so before you acept something just think how can islam, Allah say something barberic to His creatures, who says that His belssings are more than 70 mom's love for their child.

the punishments declared are for those who harm others n stick to harm others, and dont manipulate them. first have a reading to the context n then speak of it.

one more thing, all the pictures used against jews, has anyone ever thought why Muslims are compelled to protest with such harsh words?
think how many harsh words you say to some one who has done harm to you.
lets say, i beat you to death, molest your loved ones. certainly you are going to WISH ME KILLED, ABUSE ME. and later i capture your words and publicize it that you [ the victim of my cruelty] is a terrorist.
things are too much manipulated and we take it as such. just think with neutral mind and you will have a bright path before you.
wish all the humans peace.

to anonymous (3:42 PM, March 28, 2008)referring to your bogus Islam claims:
1) Dar al Islam (The House of Islam) and Dar al Harab (The House of War):
this is ONE of many medieval concepts and is NOT found in the Qur'an or the Hadith. There are many other realms that were discussed in the Middle ages such as Dar al-Amn, Dar al-'Ahd or Dar al-Hudna. You didn't know that right?
2)Taqiyya: is a concept only found in Shi'a Islam (15% of total Muslim population). In Shi'a theology it refers to a permission to lie in situations where a person fears persecution, torture and death as a result of his/her affiliation to Shi’a Islam. Taqiyyah as such is rejected by Sunnis and the concept is nowhere to be found in the Qur’an or the Hadith (as portrayed by Islamophobes).
3) Dhimmis are not second class citizens. In an Islamic state Dhimmis are required (like Muslim subjects) to pay taxes. Their taxes are however used to finance amongs other things the building and maintenance of their holy shrines and prayer houses. Dhimmis are NOT required to join the army and participate in any armed conflicts (and possibly fight against their own co-religionists).

Keep on living in your distorted and paranoid little world.
For all others: do research on your own and don't believe everything you hear.

Cheers
