Kevin Barrett -- UW-Madison lecturer, 9/11 conspiracy nutjob, media whore -- is running for Congress. He's challenging the Dem incumbent Ron Kind.
Remember back in 2006, Barrett basked in the controversy of being hired by UW-Madison to teach "Islam: Religion and Culture."
He was all over cable news and talk radio babbling about his views, such as, "I think President Bush very well may have signed an authorization for the 9/11 attacks."
I think Barrett is looking for more attention, so he's running for Congress.
I'm sure the UW Board of Regents can't be too thrilled with Barrett resurfacing, dredging up all that stuff again. Cable news will probably come calling again. Certainly, Barrett will call them if they don't call him.

Where does Barrett stand on the issues?
Read his positions.
This one caught my attention: "Kill Your Television."
I may be the first congressional candidate in history to run on the platform “kill your television.”
I want you to unplug your television, get a shotgun, head for the nearest place you can do the deed safely, and blow that sucker away.
I know that sounds harsh. But your television is your enemy. Its job is to turn your brain to mush.
Instead of watching TV, spend some time actually talking with your family and neighbors. Do some reading. Cook a good meal. Plant a garden. Get your news from a good internet news website like WhatReallyHappened.com or NoLiesNews.org. Educate yourself politically by listening to the best internet talk radio, including my shows. Download those suckers to your MP3 player and listen to them while you’re cooking or driving or working or whatever. When you really, really need to watch something, rent a DVD or go to a movie or find something interesting on YouTube.
Your TV is an evil alien being camped in your living room. It wants to suck your brains right out of your skull. It feeds on your attention. Stop watching! Turn away! Turn the damned thing off! KILL YOUR TELEVISION!
Did you know that "your TV is an evil alien"?
Did you know that your TV "wants to suck your brains right out of your skull"?
Barrett gives Libertarians a bad name.

The Political Director of the National Libertarian Party, Sean Haugh, agrees with you.
He asked the Wisconsin Libertarians not to nominate Barrett, and stated that he (Haugh) would "go out of my way to disassociate him from the national LP." Haugh said he had no problem with 9/11 Truthers in the Libertarian party (Michael Badnarik, Libertarian presidential candidate in 2004 has signed the 9/11 Truth Statement), but Barrett's "calls for mass murder" and "qualified statements of support for the preeminent Holocaust deniers in North America" put Barrett "beyond the pale."
I can understand why the Libertarian Party wouldn't want to be associated with someone like Kevin Barrett.
