UPDATE, December 22, 2008: Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar was born on December 18, 2008.
Happy Mother's Day!
It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child.
Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins.
"We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing.
The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old.
The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled.
Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health.
..."The success in a family is first off, a love for God, and secondly, treating each other like you want to be treated," Jim Bob Duggar said. "Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen."
The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jennifer, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 16; Jessa, 15; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 10; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 7; James, 6; Justin, 5; Jackson, 3; and Johannah, 2.
One word: OUCH!
I've heard of families this large, but they're usually blended or involve adoptions. Giving birth to eighteen kids... I can't imagine that.
I can't imagine raising eighteen children.
I don't think I could do it. I know I wouldn't want to do it, but I won't criticize the Duggars' choices.
As long as they can afford to provide for the kids and they give them plenty of love, I see nothing wrong with bringing eighteen children into the world.
God bless them.

I have to say I think that in today's world bringing that many children into the world is totally rediculus. How can anyone provide for that many children or do they just do it for the publicity? I mean they have a show which you know they probably get paid well for. I say its time to STOP bringing children into the world. I read that the older children each take a younger child for that day. That tells you that she has too many children for her to take care of. Enough is enough!!!
So, how many children do you believe women should be allowed to have?
Are you in favor of the government regulating that?
While part of me says God Bless 'em, because apparently they love children and can provide for them, the other part of me is asking how much quality time does each child get with the parents? Don't get me wrong, if they want to have that many children and can provide for them, it's their decision. But I'm wondering if the older children are just pseudo parents to the younger ones. Is there ever any alone time with just one child and just one parent? I guess I'd have to watch the documentary to see. These are questions I've had since I heard about child #16. I'd just like to see how they can give each and every child even a little quality time to ensure that they are unique individuals, not just a part of this huge family.

Religious WACKJOBS, apparently they declared their house a church so they don't have to pay taxes onit. what if everyone does that? Nutjobs!
I know what you mean, Chris.
Love is infinite but time is finite.
It would be impossible for the parents to spend much one-on-one time with each child on a daily basis.
