Brett Favre and Greta Van Susteren, Part II

FAVRE: I like my teammates... I wish them the best. I really do. I don't want to make it any worse than it is. I mean, I've always been a Packer. I always will be a Packer. Do I play somewhere else? That remains to be seen, but I don't want to go back there just to stick it to 'em.

...And if I don't play again, it's not the end of the world because I look back and I hold no regrets. There's some games I wish I would have won, but I played every game the same way. And so, what you see is what you get. I don't know what else to tell you.

It really was great having 16 seasons without the drama of a quarterback controversy.

At the time, I didn't realize how fortunate we were to be spared this stuff. I took all that smooth sailing for granted.

Those were the days.

When Greta asked Favre his reaction to the rallies calling for his return, it was nice for him to say how great Wisconsin is and how great Green Bay is and how special the fans are.

"I always will be a Packer."

I think Favre should be welcomed back, as the starter.

Then if he doesn't perform, bring on Aaron Rodgers. That's not much of a detour in terms of the direction the team is going.

Did you see the poll results that Greta ran? As of this morning at 24,405 votes, 75% (18,406) want him back as the starter, 17% (4,066) say release him, and only 8% (1,933) say trade him.....

75% say start him.......

I can't say that hearing Favre's side of the story has brought me around to support bringing him back as the starter.

I just think that's the best resolution.

If it did happen, the relationship between Favre and Thompson would be icier than the frozen tundra.

With all the bad blood, it's hard to envision Favre's return to the Packers.

I do think it's not just Favre's legacy that's at stake. The Packer organization has to consider how this whole episode tarnishes its image.

It's a fact that Favre's possible playing days are numbered. His permanent retirement is not far off.

I'd think that a compromise could be reached without allowing this implosion to continue.
