What to do on a beautiful summer Sunday afternoon...
Erick and Adam Rolfson of Pewaukee have a suggestion.
Favre fan rally at Lambeau Field
Two Pewaukee brothers are calling Green Bay Packers fans to a rally at Lambeau Field at noon Sunday where they can show their support for bringing Brett Favre back as the team's starting quarterback.
Rally plans remained fluid this afternoon, and no speakers had been announced, but Erick and Adam Rolfson said they would welcome everyone who showed up to the first in a series of Favre rallies. They want other fans to speak there, too.
"We plan on rallying every Sunday at noon at Lambeau Field until we have our quarterback back," Erick Rolfson said.
Oooh. Every Sunday until Brett Favre is back as the Packers' quarterback?
That may conflict with the regular season.
The brothers are asking fellow fans to wear green and gold and bring a few non-perishable food items for distribution to state food pantries.
They also created a fan forum Web site: BringBackBrettFavre.
The website has Bring Back Brett Favre merchandise for sale -- yard signs, t-shirits, and bumper stickers.
"Proceeds will help support the flood victims."
All proceeds?
Elsewhere on the site:
Order a yard sign, bumper sticker, or t-shirt.
Help support Brett Farve in 08 and a portion of
the proceeds will go to help the flood victims.
Define "portion."
How much money do Erick and Adam Rolfson hope to make from this?
If they really are donating a significant amount of the proceeds to help flood victims, then this is a worthy venture.
I just hope the brothers are sincere about this and not just taking advantage of distraught Packers fans.
You could say they're profiting by getting their 15 minutes of fame. I guess you can't put a price on media attention and being almost famous briefly.
And of course for the Rolfson brothers, the ultimate goal is Favre as the starting QB of the Green Bay Packers -- PRICELESS.
(I hope that's their ultimate goal, and not money, money, money.)

UPDATE, July 13, 2008: "Favre rally draws about 100 to Lambeau"
More than 100 Brett Favre fans showed up at the Lambeau Field parking lot at noon today to tell the Packer front office to bring back the quarterback.
Chanting "Bring Back Brett" while pushing strollers and wheelchairs, holding signs and tossing a green and gold football, the crowd gathered after learning of an effort by two Pewaukee brothers to show support for No. 4.
...The increasingly messy dispute (between Favre and the Packers) brought the fans to the parking lot today, where they chanted until 12:25 p.m. and then decided to troop into the atrium. Which they did in an impromptu parade of green and gold jerseys and hats.
...Adam and Eric Rolfson weren't sure how many people would show up. The brothers, both mortgage brokers, paid several hundred dollars for a web site and developer and then watched as thousands of hits began to stream in on www.BringBackBrettFavre.com.
...Adam and Eric Rolfson vowed to continue the Favre rallies every Sunday at noon in the Lambeau Field parking lot. Next Sunday the brothers hope the crowd will grow to thousands.
While today's rally received a lot of publicity from news outlets, it wasn't very well attended. Though to be fair, the event was announced with less than 24 hours notice.
I don't think conclusions about where the fans stand on the Favre saga can be judged by the attendance at this rally.
Still, I can't imagine the crowd growing to thousands by next Sunday.
When training camp gets underway at the end of July, there will be lots of people around Lambeau. No matter their opinion, I suspect they'll be busy watching practice, not rallying for Favre to be the starting quarterback.
Maybe by the time training camp begins there will be some resolution to the mess. Who knows?

I don't know that this means anything at all, but todays paper reports there were about 100 people at this rally.
That is not very many people. Especially considering season Packer tickets are sold out until the end of time.
It probably means these two are just a couple of doofuses. Still, for all their bark, you'd think the first rally would have attracted more Favre supporters.
Think there will be a second?
I'm really surprised that only 100 people showed up. That's not a large crowd, especially when you consider how much coverage it got.
I think there will be a second rally. Attendance: About half as many people as today.
