Brett Favre will be back in Green Bay tonight.
This is the endgame.
From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Brett Favre has been reinstated and is on his way to Green Bay, but it's still not a lock that he'll be in uniform again for the Packers.
A source familiar with the Favre situation said that commissioner Roger Goodell called Packers president Mark Murphy this morning to tell him he has reinstated Favre and that the Packers have until noon Monday to create a roster spot for him. Favre is scheduled to fly to Green Bay today and arrive at the airport at around 5:30 p.m.
The team is fully prepared to take Favre back. It has been saving a room for him at St. Norbert's College and has a plan to integrate him back into practice. Favre will have to take a physical and a conditioning test Monday before being put on the roster. The Packers will have to cut someone to make room for him.
The source emphasized that negotiations on the marketing deal offered by the Packers are not over. In fact, there's some thought that Favre, who is coming to Green Bay with his agent, James (Bus) Cook, and his family, may be reporting to force the Packers to meet his financial demands. The negotiations are believed to be centered around the total value of the deal.
Is this about Favre playing again, or is it a negotiating ploy to up the marketing deal?
I'm so disgusted with the entire mess that I don't want to care. The problem is I do care. That makes me even more disgusted.
Why is the family coming along?
To attend Family Night?
It's weird.

Personally, I hope he remains on the team as a backup quarterback. If Rodgers is injured, Favre is a much better option compared to the other two backups. Makes a tough situation for Rodgers (especially if the fans start chanting "we want Favre" the first time Rodgers throws an incomplete pass), but I think he can handle it.
Rodgers seems to be very tough mentally. Physically, he's had problems. Overall, I think he's handled this whole thing very well.
I think it would be smart for the Packers to keep Favre as a player, a lot smarter than paying him not to play.
If anyone thinks the Packers plan on breaking up "The Streak" in favor of starting Aaron Rodgers, you've done lost your mind! It's become quite clear who is in complete control in Green Bay.
Agreed. There's no question that Favre is in control.
But I keep coming back to him talking about how much pressure it was to be "Brett Favre," how he couldn't take it anymore, how he had to retire.
Is he really capable of taking the Packers to the Super Bowl? Does he have the mental stamina?
I hope he does.
