Thankfully, voters in the 5th Congressional District had the good sense to support Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner.
From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Sensenbrenner, 65, survived a challenge from fellow Republican Jim Burkee, a Concordia University professor who was making his first bid for public office.
Sensenbrenner, who is seeking his 16th term in office, will face independent Robert R. Raymond of Shorewood in the general election.
Sensenbrenner trounced Burkee. It was a landslide. Sensenbrenner received 78% of the vote while a measly 22% went to Burkee.
In the 3rd Congressional District, Kevin Barrett won the Libertarian primary. Yes, there was a Libertarian primary!
Barrett defeated Ben Olson III of Wisconsin Dells in the Libertarian primary.
Barrett, 49, became well known in 2006 as some Republican state legislators tried to push him out of his University of Wisconsin-Madison lecturing job because of his controversial views on Sept. 11. Barrett withstood the challenge but did not get a new teaching job in 2007.
In campaign stops and in automated calls, he has reminded voters of his controversial 9-11 views, telling them the attacks were an inside job.
But he has focused his campaign on immediately withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq. Olson, 55, agreed with him on that issue but said Barrett’s views on other issues — such as expanding Social Security — did not represent Libertarian ideals on reducing the size of government.
Olson will face Kind and Republican Paul Stark, an Eau Claire homebuilder, in the general election. (Note: I believe that should say "Barrett will face Kind...")
Barrett defeated Olson, 59% (332) to 41% (226).
It's rather disturbing to think that there are actually 332 people who went to the polls to vote for nutjob Kevin Barrett.
"I think President Bush very well may have signed an authorization for the 9/11 attacks."

It is disturbing that many Americans do not believe the government's explanation of the 9-11 attacks. All information should be released by the government so people can know the truth. We need an independent investigation, not the political coverup that we got.
America is a great country. I cherish my freedom, including my freedom of speech.
I'm sure you do, as well.
Enough said.
Congratulations to Kevin. It must feel good to be able to stand up and speak the truth in a political campaign. All I can say is Go Kevin!
As I remember the horror of 9/11 and pray for the survivors of the victims, I am so grateful that President Bush and others in our government have worked so tirelessly to prevent another attack on our country's people.
