On Monday, the women on The View took up the topic of where Barack and Michelle Obama's daughters should go to school. Public? Private?
During the discussion, Joy Behar got in shots about President Bush and homeschooling.
BEHAR: I think they should get an education in the White House just the way George Bush did.
While talking about educational options, Behar suggested that other children should be corralled into the White House and a classroom should be set up. Elisabeth Hasselbeck then brought up homeschooling.
HASSELBECK: I'm all for homeschooling. I think it actually is a good thing.
BEHAR: A lot of them are demented when they're homeschooled. Come on.
Hasselbeck objected, but Behar didn't back down.
BEHAR: They're afraid of children. They learn to be scared of other children. It's all about mommy and daddy....
It's one thing for Behar to say she believes that children should attend school outside the home. But for her to say that homeschooled children are "demented" is totally inappropriate and completely out of line.
The comments start at about 6:00.

Where will the Obama children attend school?"

I think Behar went to far with the demented comment, but she isn't wrong. Homeschooled kids tend to be cult like, they tend not to have critical thinking skills becuase they only study religion and everything is religion, or they study anarchy. They tend not to get good jobs, tend to do poorly in College, and end up failing out. So yeah home schooling is bad, but demented, to far.
Gee, I wonder why YouTube pulled the video? Not because it makes Joy look stupid again, ya think? Just because by every objective measure homeschooled kids perform better and show maturity at a younger age...
No, but you see Joy once met one kid who was really shy so therefore A) it must be due to their educational method, and B) shyness definitely equals dementia.
How's your shoe taste today, Joy? Oh, same as yesterday and the day before, huh?
The YouTube video is functioning now.
Anonymous, please show us the statistics that state homeschooled kids only study religion, don't get good jobs (which are the good ones by the way?), tend to do poorly in college and fail out? You are exactly like Joy, you just chose to use different words.
Joy consistently proves to America who and what she is, I feel no need to put a name on it.
Anonymous, do you realize you cannot even use the correct form of the word 'too'? My homeschooled kids know the difference and bonus points- they fit in quite well with other kids and adults whether religious or not. Let's get away from stereotypes, they benefit no one. I mean haven't you ever met an unsocial misfit, or college dropout, or bad employee who went to public school? Maybe it isn't homeschooling we should be concerned about after all.
Homeschooled kids tend to be cultlike? Are you serious? I deal with many youth in our area (counseling). And what we have found is that homeschooled kids are more accepting of others; whereas kids in public schools are cliquish. You'd better check your stats on the graduation rate of public school kids compare with those of homeschoolers. More and more colleges are actually trying to find ways to make more scholarships available to homeschoolers because they do so much better.
I'm just curious how many home schoolers Joy Behar and Monsieur Anonymous here have met.
I happen to be a fourteen year old "demented" home schooler. Surprisingly enough, Anonymous, I do study things other than religion. Here are just a few of the subjects I am taking this year, including: Great books literature, Algebra, Euclid’s Geometry, three foreign languages, music, World as well as American history, and Physical science. As for your ignorant comment on "critical thinking," I, as well as many of my home schooler friends have taken a few years of Logic and have engaged in multiple debates.
Regarding your comment on "doing poorly in college" are you aware that in a survey in 1997 taken by the National Center for Home Education, home schoolers were found to be academically, emotionally, and socially prepared to succeed at college?
To conclude, I would like to give you a word of advice. The greatest ignorance is to disdain something you know nothing about. Your foolish comments just portray your true ignorance on this subject.
Respectfully yours,
The “Demented” Home schooler
ahahahahahaa
