Milwaukee Mom Turns in Kids

If only there were more mothers in Milwaukee like this mom.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Milwaukee police today praised the mother of two teenagers whom she turned in after recognizing them as the suspects in an armed robbery last week.

The teens - a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl - are suspected of robbing the Citgo Ajit Gas & Go at 1909 W. Hopkins St. about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Milwaukee police Capt. David Zibolski said.

Police provided video of the robbery to local television stations on Friday. The mother saw the video on the TV news that same day, recognized her children and turned them in to police, Zibolski said.

There are few details in this account, but from what is being reported I think the mom deserves to be praised.

This mother is acting like a parent should.

I would guess, and it's only a guess, that the mother has tried to teach her children to do the right thing.

Obviously, her kids were not doing the right thing when they robbed the gas station.

But given the fact that the mom turned in her children to police when she could have decided to stay quiet to protect them, it seems that the mom is doing her best to raise her children to become responsible adults and good citizens.

The mom has a conscience. She knows right from wrong. My guess is she instructed her children to adopt her values.

It would appear that she didn't failed them. They failed her.

Hopefully, the kids appreciate how much their mother loves them.

It is pretty sad that what the mother did is considered so out of the ordinary.

A parent doesn't help a child by shielding the child from being held accountable for his or her actions.
