WE Energies Explosion in Oak Creek

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

An explosion this morning at a We Energies plant in Oak Creek caused critical injuries to four people, an Oak Creek fire official said.

We Energies spokeswoman Irrisol Arce confirmed that an explosion occurred at the plant's coal handling facility. Witnesses told WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) that coal dust exploded inside a dust collector at the plant.

Officials are trying to figure out what caused the explosion, Arce said

From 620 WTMJ:
We Energies says that an explosion and fire has happened at its plant along Lake Michigan in Oak Creek.

Witnesses report that four people received critical injuries from burns caused by a cold dust explosion inside a dust collector in a coal handling facility at the plant.

The explosion happened just before 11:00 a.m.

Flight for Life has been called to the scene. There are reports that they're taking the injured to Columbia St. Mary's Hospital.

The fire and explosion were contained to the coal handling facility.

The plant continues to function.

It's obviously good news that the situation seems to be under control.

The main concern at this point appears to be for the injured.

Prayers for them and their families.
