Malik Obama: Another Suffering Obama Sibling

Everyone knows about Barack Obama's half-brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama.

Dinesh D'Souza writes:

[W]hy aren't the networks covering the fact that Barack Obama's half-brother George lives in a 6 by 10 foot hut in the slums of Kenya? It took a reporter for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair to locate George Obama. Obama noted that when he met his famous half-brother in 2006 “we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger.” George Obama also told the magazine that “I live here on less than a dollar month,” and “if anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed.” Obama has done absolutely nothing to help his unfortunate half-brother.

It's very sad that Obama isn't helping his brother, and very hypocritical.
That's the promise of America, the idea that we are responsible for ourselves, but that we also rise or fall as one nation, the fundamental belief that I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper.

That's the promise we need to keep. That's the change we need right now.

Today, there's word that another Obama sibling is suffering.
KISUMU, Kenya (AP) -- A Kenyan health official says President Barack Obama's older half-brother has been hospitalized with stomach pains and is being tested for cholera.

Local disease surveillance officer James Sande says that Malik Obama, a 51-year-old businessman, was taken to Siaya District Hospital in western Kenya on Tuesday evening. Sande says Obama's condition is improving enough for him to be discharged Thursday or Friday. Results of his cholera test have not come back.

There is an outbreak of cholera in the area and hospital official Frederick Osanya says a domestic employee of Obama's was hospitalized with the disease last week. Cholera is easily treated but can be deadly.

Obama family members in Kenya did not return phone calls seeking comment.

I hope Barack Obama sent his ill half-brother a get well card.

Obama might even want to consider sending Malik a box set of 25 DVDs AND a North American player (to avoid a repeat of that embarrassing incident with Gordon Brown being unable to actually view the lavish gift of DVDs that Obama gave him).
