The White House has kicked off an all-out assault on Rush Limbaugh, talk radio, and conservatives in general.
Yesterday, Rahm Emanuel began the effort, on the heels of Limbaugh's CPAC speech.
Warner Todd Huston, NewsBusters, writes:
Politico reported that Emanuel has a daily phone conference call with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, and CNN's James Carville and Paul Begala. With Rush Limbaugh's raucous CPAC address, as he termed it his "first address to the nation," we can see at least one example of what is likely an attack strategy resulting from the Emanuel phone session with a rush to bash Rush the day after the appearance.
As soon as the sun rose on the day after Limbaugh's CPAC appearance, three of the four of the phone call participants attacked Limbaugh with the same talking points. It seems obvious that they coordinated their attack together in the Obama secret strategy session. It is amazing that a president's staff can have such power over major media figures without a peep being heard from those that only months ago bashed former presidents over a perceived undue, even "dangerous," control of the media.

The assault on Limbaugh and conservatives continues today. The usual suspects at MSNBC engaged in their usual foolish rambling.
Chuck Todd was particularly combative and biting in his remarks.
Scott Whitlock, NewsBusters, writes:
NBC White House political director Chuck Todd appeared on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" on Monday to dismiss Rush Limbaugh as "looking backward" and deride the radio industry as a "dying medium." Todd, who was talking with co-host Mika Brzezinski about Limbaugh’s role as a leader in the Republican Party, also suggested a linkage between the radio host and far left bomb thrower Michael Moore. He insisted, "They [Democrats] want to do to the Republican Party what Republicans tried to do to the Democrats with Michael Moore and all that stuff."
Speaking of radio, Todd sniffed, "But, it’s that idea that Limbaugh- even the whole- even the venue that he’s on, radio, not the internet. You know, it’s very ‘90s. It’s very backwards- is looking backwards." He added, "And, you know, radio is a dying medium, potentially- as it is just in general."
He concluded, "It is a backward-looking technology." Of course, it’s the newspaper industry that many would call a "dying medium." (The San Francisco Chronicle is just one of many papers to face bankruptcy recently.)
This is a waste of time.
The Dems are trying to marginalize Limbaugh, but they're actually shoring up the will of conservatives.
Todd is delusional. Talk radio isn't a "dying medium." As Whitlock notes, the newspapers are dying. Traditional media are dying. Their influence is dramatically slipping. It appears that Todd can't handle the truth, not to mention report it.
