Alabama gunman Michael McLendon, murderer of 11 people including himself, had a "revenge list" of those "who done him wrong."
From the Chicago Sun-Times, AP:
An Alabama district attorney says a gunman who killed 10 people and then himself in the worst mass shooting in the state's history was keeping a list of those "who done him wrong."
Coffee County District Attorney Gary McAliley said Wednesday that investigators found the list in 28-year-old Michael McLendon's home.
The list included a Pilgrim's Pride plant near Enterprise where his mother worked. She was among the victims of her son's shooting spree, and the district attorney said she had recently been laid off from the plant.
McAliley says Kelley's Foods in Elba and Reliable Metals in Samson were also on the list. McLendon had previously worked at both. Kelley's Foods says he quit his job there last week, and local officials say he was forced to resign from the metals plant in 2003.
McLendon killed some of the people closest to him -- his mother and his girlfriend.
The death toll now stands at 11, including the gunman. Others citizens and law enforcment officers were wounded as McClendon drove though town firing shots at anyone in his path.
The man's shooting spree covered two counties (Coffee and Geneva) and targeted people in the town of Kinston and the cities of Samson and Geneva in extreme southeast Alabama.
Victim identities and a motive remain unknown. Preachers confirmed that several other victims of the gunman were related to him including McLendon's grandparents, an aunt and an uncle. Investigators tell WSFA 12 News the victims ranged in age from 18 months to 74-years-old.
This is positively horrific.
McLendon was a monster. He killed his family. He killed law enforcement officials, bystanders. And then he killed himself.
A murder-suicide is such a heinous crime and such a cowardly act.
This is pure evil.
