Idol Shocker: Adam Lambert in Bottom Two

Based on the performances last night, I think Adam Lambert belonged there.

Danny Gokey and Allison Iraheta were the first two sent to safety.

That left Matt Giraud, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert.

The next to sent to safety was Kris Allen.

In the end, Matt was booted off the show. At this stage in the competition, that really was no surprise. However, it was surprising that Adam was in the bottom two. I thought he had a really energized fan base.

Guess not.

Next week, the theme is rock. That should help Adam.

____________

There's conspiracy chatter online that Adam's place in the bottom two was fake, that it was staged, that he really didn't come in fourth in the voting.

If Idol is lying about results, then the show is dead.

It has to maintain its credibility.

Someone needs to check those phone lines, I tried and could not get through for Adam. His "energized fan base" probably overloaded the circuits. I tried for the entire 2 hours and never got in. Sumpin's up. He was in shock when he was pushed to the other group. I am in shock that people don't understand the vocal difficulty of what he does and just want to see mediocre talent. They are only SINGERS - he is the ARTIST.

I really don't believe Adam was in the bottom two. I believe FOX did this to stir things up. However it had the opposite effect. I think it backfired. It makes FOX look fake, unsincere, dishonet. The show is not worth watching if the results are fixed. Big mistake FOX. This show needs to be based on talent. Adam is a cut above everyone else and most people know that. His fan base is huge. It just wasn't believable tonight.

It is a shock that Adam was in the bottom two.

At first, I thought it was a ratings stunt and just a cheap attempt at suspense.

But then I heard Ryan clearly say that this was the bottom two, Matt and Adam.

It was then that I thought it wasn't a contrived moment or manipulation.

It is really hard to believe that Adam placed there, but the show cannot be putting out false results. That would kill it.

It's possible that the top four were separated by the very slimmest of margins. That's the only explanation that seems plausible.

I also tried to get through for Adam last night but the phone kept ringing and ringing. I thought it was odd and then some bloggers were really freaking out over it last night when they could not get through either. One of them got on a board and said she thought something was wrong and adam would be in trouble because of it. I just did not believe it would be true, but I am writing her and now to attest to the fact that I could not get an answer last night for Adam so my votes never counted for him. I gave up.

Come on, be real people. There is no conspiracy. Some people simply don't like the guy. You vote based on who you would want to buy a CD from or who you'd want to see in concert. Adam is way over the top for me- I'd die if I had to sit through a concert of him screeching out one annoyingly high falsetto note after another. All of the other contestants have much more pleasant tones and styles.

If there was a technical problem with the phones, I'm sure that will be addressed.

A phone problem is unlikely because producers would have noted a dramatic and suspicious drop in Adam's votes, alerting them to a technical issue.

Anyway, Adam wasn't eliminated so any alleged problem didn't affect the outcome.

Obviously, some people were able to get through. It wasn't impossible or he'd be gone.

There is no conspiracy theory. We voted Adam 25 times consecutively without any problem. We were thinking there must be more phone lines available this year than last year. Clearly it turns out that there are less people voted for him.

After all, AI is a popularity contest not a sing contest!

Everyone has been making the assumption that he had the highest number of votes in the past but we could of been wrong....maybe he has been just getting by the whole time.

me too. if adam gets eliminated, i will not watch this season's ai anymore.

Adam's flaw is that he is too strong, ppl might not vote 4 him b/c they think that he'll be safe. Or m/b the american idol want to create some buzz? Also, this season, all 5 of them are very strong, it's luck the deciding factor of who will win more votes. Also, in my p.o.v. i consider Alison a bit overrated sometime, doesn't have the strong drive to win like Simon said and voting for the worst might occur in the fans.

I completely think adam is way to over the top. I could not listen to his music on the radio. He looks like he's part woman and man. Come one to much makeup and he sings like a girl. He sounds like he'd be in KISS. ANd im sorry but majority of the world can't stand that music

It's a talent contest...not a popularity contest. There are a lot of people who vote for the best performance of the night, like we're supposed to. Sometimes Adam definitely puts in the best performance (ie. Mad World, If I Can't Have You). This week Adam's performance was very good but Alison's and Danny's were better.

I agree, Lynn.

Adam has had some incredible moments on the show, but his Rat Pack Night performance wasn't one of them.

I thought Danny was absolutely phenomenal on Tuesday, and Allison's talent always amazes me.

I support Wisconsin boy Danny, but that doesn't keep me from acknowledging when Adam gives a fantastic performance.

Give credit where credit is due.

clean your ears mary.
any contestant out there can pull such a long note like adam? that performance was more a show of his prowess.

I do not wanna watch kris - he doesn't have a nice tone in his voice - plus
when he sings - his mouth looks funny.
certainly not gonna be my idol!

I do not wanna hear danny cokey. he look like another clay aitken, taylor hicks, etc. too uncool, nerd-like with rough voice. every time he sings big long notes, it sound like he almost runs out of steam. sound like thiii iiiii iiiiii iiiiiiiiis not smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth like adam does it. he is not my idol neither, never will be!

lastly, if people are complaining adam high pitch when he sang over-the-top notes, the reverse is the same - i hate chicks with rough voice -- yuck!
at least when done (not overdone) right, falsetto on adam sounds fantastic on tracks of tears, mad world,
if i can't have you.

This certainly isn't the case with all of Adam Lambert's fans, so I'm not making any sweeping generalizations here.

But I have noticed that some of Lambert's fans feel the need to bash the other contestants by name-calling and immature critiques.

It's weird.

If you're an Adam Lambert fan, terrific. Sing his praises, support him, and vote for him.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. No need to get mean though and be cruel about it.

Adam sadly was really in the bottom 3, phones failure who knows but certaintly he didnt get as many votes as the other contestants. Many of his fans had admitted the split the votes to safe Allison as she was in danger according to Simon. Most of them thought Adam was safe and decided to vote to safe somebody else that they like for sympathy but unfortunately this mistake nearly cost Adam his place in AI. A mistake surely his fans and the people who note his talent wont make anymore. That's for sure. The best performance of the night was his the second best was Danny who impressed with his change and study of a true performer and talented guy like Adam. America vote for the best from now on, learn from your mistakes and all the best to Adam!!!
