The Queen is on the Left

Look at the photo accompanying a story in TIME, "The Queen and Mrs. Obama: A Breach in Protocol."

The Caption: Elizabeth II, left, and Michelle Obama at Buckingham Palace

I didn't read the story, but I looked at the pic. The caption made me laugh.

Was it really necessary to identify 82-year-old Queen Elizabeth II as being on the left? Was there any possibility of confusion there?

I mean, really.
