American Idol Finale and Danny Gokey

There was a nice moment for Danny Gokey on the American Idol finale.

Adam Lambert had just finished his first song, "Mad World."

The judges were critiquing his performance. It was Paula's turn. She was heaping praise on him, naturally. The camera cut to the audience and showed a shot of Danny Gokey.

The audience erupted in applause and screams. I think Adam assumed it was for him. There's still a lot of love for Danny.

After Kris Allen performed his first song, "Ain't No Sunshine," Simon said that he wondered last week whether America had made the right choice. He said that he retracted any of his doubts.

That wasn't so nice, but what else is Simon going to say. It's about ratings and hype.

The fact is, based on singing ability, Danny deserved to be in the final two.

Simon and the other judges were not very impressed with Kris' two other performances.

The judges are so in the tank for Adam.

Will the little girls of America pull an upset and deliver the Idol title to Kris?

I think that's possible.

I know that's not what the judges want.

And tonight's celebrity sighting in the audience: Anthony Hopkins.

How weird is that?

this is the only place on the web where I found a reference to the crowd screaming when the camera showed Danny--thanks! At least there are 2 of us out here who noticed. :-)

Thanks for your comment.

No one was talking about it.

I was beginning to doubt what I saw and heard, so I played it back.

It happened. I'm glad it did. Danny deserved the acknowledgment.
