Mark Belling addressed the Kentucky Derby matter again on his radio program on Tuesday.
He really seems to be enjoying how he has managed to turn his wrong Derby prediction on Mine That Bird into a positive. He should enjoy the ride. I'm enjoying it.
He said he intends to milk this. Good.
The Lefties fired the first shot. Now Belling is returning fire.
Sure, he engaged in some gloating on turning the Lefties' attack on its head, but Belling also raised some serious points.
BELLING: I honestly don't mean to be facetious about this. Isn't it amazing that my alleged reneging on my vow on the Kentucky Derby has gotten more attention from the news media than Doyle for breaking his vow on not raising taxes?
The fact of the matter is that Jim Doyle vowed in 2003 to not raise taxes in the state of Wisconsin and is violating it with the biggest tax orgy in the history of this state. And you would be hard pressed to find any stories pointing out that statement that he made....
The fact of the matter is, as absurd as this sounds, that a talk show host blowing gas about the Kentucky Derby is deemed more newsworthy than the governor of the state of Wisconsin breaking an important pledge on taxes. That actually is a serious point underlying all of this.
Exactly.
It's ridiculous for people to be obsessed over Belling's comments about a horse race while they're completely indifferent when it comes to Doyle breaking his word about raising the taxes of Wisconsin residents.
Belling's remarks are deemed to be newsworthy. Doyle's broken promises, on the other hand, are ignored by the lib media. Go figure.
Belling said that he has received at least 300 e-mails on the Derby matter.
He read a cross-section of some of the lunacy from the Left. Very funny.
One guy actually wrote a lengthy and demented screed that included, "You cheapened the entire voting process, Mark."
That is so lame.
Belling read the sender's name on the air, Noah D. Domnitz, of Domnitz & Skemp, 825 N. Jefferson Street, Milwaukee. Domnitz is a trial lawyer.
He read a couple more rants and named some of the authors.
Belling also read some of the positive comments he received from listeners.
Making it even worse for the Lefties slamming Belling for allegedly reneging on his promise to vote for Doyle, Belling pointed out that he didn't say he wouldn't vote for Doyle.
Belling said that he intends to honor his commitment if Doyle honors his.
BELLING: So for all of the Lefties who want to go out and accuse me of reneging, what's Doyle doing? I've said this makes me a reneger and a liar. I understand. I accept that I'm in the company of the governor of the state of Wisconsin.
'You should do what you said.'
Absolutely. And I will when he does.
Will I hold myself to a higher standard than Doyle? NO.
Why? Because I am using this, and I'll come right out and admit it: I am using this as an excuse to draw attention to the fact that Jim Doyle is raising every tax under the sun after saying he wouldn't do it.
Belling says if Doyle makes good on his promise, he will not only vote for him and donate to his campaign but he'll even volunteer.
Then Belling takes it a step further, questioning Doyle's plans for his political future.
BELLING: By the way, I'm not sure he's running.
I even noticed that in Joe Wineke's little screed to me he didn't say vote for Doyle in the gubernatorial election. He said vote Democratic in the election.
Would you be planning to run for reelection right after raising every tax known to man in this state? Or is this Jim Doyle who knows he's not going to run again in 2010 figuring, 'I'm going to put my big socialist imprint on this state before I leave, and there's nothing the voters can do because I ain't running'?
Really makes you wonder if he's running at all.
This is really good conservative talk radio -- very entertaining and informative, revealing the lies of the Leftists and exposing the truth.
