Danny Gokey: Cookies, Kopp's, and Cousins

Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Scott Walker have made it official, proclaiming May 8th to be Danny Gokey Day in Milwaukee.

While that's a tremendous honor for the American Idol top three contestant, Grebe's making Danny Gokey cookies is even more impressive. I think he's the first person to be honored with his own cookie since Grebe's made some decorated with the images of the presidential and vice presidential candidates during Election 2008.

Kopp's will be serving "Danny's Delight" on Friday. Actually, it's their usual butter pecan custard, but apparently it's Danny's favorite.

Danny worked at the Cousins Subs in Brown Deer. To honor him, Cousins will be serving the "Go! Go! Gokey Sub!" It's the Cousins turkey sub, but with a new name.

When Danny was working at Cousins or going to Kopp's on a custard run, I doubt he ever imagined that a sub and a custard flavor would be named for him. And not just anyone can get their face on a cookie.

The honors from Barrett and Walker aren't bad either, but not nearly as sweet.
