Tim Pawlenty, Brett Favre, and the Vikings

Tim Pawlenty has great ambitions for national office. He was on John McCain's list of possible VP choices.

Note to Pawlenty: If you have political ambitions that reach beyond the borders of Minnesota, be more careful about what you say.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's governor is salivating at the thought of Brett Favre playing for the Vikings.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty says putting the former Green Bay Packer in purple would be fun for fans.

He says it would be "a wonderful little salt to rub in the eyes of some of our Green Bay Packer friends."

Pawlenty laid out the scene: "Can you imagine Brett Favre going into Lambeau Field in Viking purple and maybe even wearing No. 4? There would be audible gasps. There would be 60,000 audible gasps as he came out of the tunnel."

Minnesota and Wisconsin have been working to save money by sharing some state functions and equipment, but Pawlenty says everybody gets the joke when it comes to the Vikings-Packers rivalry.

Wrong.

I don't get the "joke."

I wouldn't consider Favre as the Vikings' quarterback to be "a wonderful little salt."

That was a stupid thing for Pawlenty to say.

I can forgive Pawlenty.

Not sure about being able to forgive Favre though.

There is more than one thing wrong with what Gov Pawlenty thinks will happen if Favre wears purple. Read a funny take on the story here.
